Wife and I disagree, how do we reconcile our differences?

I said the right thing to do with smokers is to put them on a Space X flight to another planet. They can smoke on the trip, enjoying the air, and then smoke all they want on the planet,... we'll figure out the technology just like "Kennedy" put us on a mission, we can do this! They no longer would disturb the fresh air when out at dinner or trying to breathe the fresh air in the Alps. How pathetic to pollute everyone elses air.

She did not agree and said they should go to an Island by themselves with some kind of vaccum that funnels the smoke back into their "world".

I'm like... you know they are going to take a boat off that Island and the problem starts all over again. I'll deal with the Space X rocket exhaust to get the job done.

Not really sure how to resolve this issue. HELP!

Hah. This makes me think of Democrats wanting to ban fireplaces to prevent global warming. I'm not arguing about the global warming part. I just find it amazing that some people are so self-righteous and bossy.

I certainly do not want to be stuck in restaurants or other enclosed spaces with smokers. But I think it's way over the top to cry about people smoking in open, outdoor areas. It's like wanting to ban perfume because a person might have fragrance sensitivity. Or pass a law that people can't have body odor. Or impose fashion restrictions because a person finds certain fashions to be offensive to their eyes.
It's the new, Karen attitude.

I like to smoke my (tobacco) pipe on occasion, but I'm considerate about it.

I was thinking both were considerate as I generally favor freedom. The challenge I have is I'm on this amazing fresh Alps mountain top, but have to move around to find fresh air, more than once. Europe is quite frustrating... can't eat outside without catching smoke in my lungs, which ruins the experience for me.
I appreciate considerate smokers. It's one of those things though that it seems... the smoker enjoys.02% of the smoke and the rest goes to others that don't want it. If only that smoke be contained, I wouldn't care. If I gassed like an obnoxious cow herd at dinner and 98% took out the rest of the guests, probably be a law suit.
My uncle used to smoke cigars and that, I actually enjoyed, it smelled sweet. But seeing both parents smoke like chimneys only to go down their final months with cancer related to smoking, makes me want to avoid it all and breathe clean air.

I understand what you are saying. I especially don't like people smoking when I'm dining.
I think some countries have a higher prevalence of smokers than others.

What's the problem with having a different perspective on that matter and moving on?

I do agree however, that smokers are basically "unwanted guests" if they're in proximity of non-smokers.

I'm really just joking and letting out some steam...;) I grew up with so much smoke I should be a chimney by now. but it's frustrating to constantly move to avoid smoke, my lungs don't work like they used to.

You are both wrong. We could go back to the 60s when everybody smoked and it was allowed everywhere. Nobody really minded an early death.

that was rough though, growing up as a kid parents and grandparents smoked in the house, garage, deck, everywhere... couldn't breathe. Now that I know what fresh air is, don't want to go back.
