Is it a good alternative to countries like Thailand, Vietnam or the Philippines?
I'll be honest, I mainly wanna visit for the geology, and Malaysia seems a bit more modern and developed. I've honestly never thought about Malaysia, but I see now it has a lot more to offer than I originally thought.
But the rock formations aren't as spectacular as in those other countries, and they're lacking in ancient ruins, at least impressive ones. And it seems difficult to get around and logistically challenging. Like Malacca has no airport, so you have to go overland which takes a really long time.
I don't know. Any thoughts.

Depends on what u are looking for. If u hope for all the night life like clubbing and bar as what Thailand/Bali typically offer u, then malaysia is not for u.. but if u are more on a chilling and lay back trip, sure malaysia have few to offer… speaking of difficult to get around, not really.. in the city center, the public transport is decent or can be say good.. but if u want to travel interstate, instead of by plane, u can ride the direct train…
The second one. Are you from there? What's the fastest way to get from Penang to Malacca? I am looking to get there within 2 to 3 hours.
Yes.. ermm, ok thats difficult. Cuz its almost from another end to another end.. the ‘fastest’ u can get is by bus which going to take u about 7+ hrs.. maybe u shld arrange ur trip penang - kl then kl - melaka
Yeah, I saw that. Fuck that! You guys don't have bullet train? I didn't know Malaysia was that large. Why does Malacca airport only have flights to one place in Indonesia?
Well too bad we dont.. Speaking of that, im not really sure, maybe due to the airport being super small.. so must be only certain type of plane can land there.. and usually people travel to melaka by land, hence no demand for flight..
That's strange, 'cuz it seemed like a popular city, but maybe not so much. And it's not like it's super close to Kuala Lumpur. Yeah, I heard most SE Asians don't fly, because domestic flights are super expensive and I believe it, because I was checking from Penang to Thailand for one night, and the flight alone cost almost $200.
Yerp, not so much.. and most tourist if they visit melaka, they will surely come from kl.. Thats right, flight isn’t cheap in SE Asian.. Anyway, wherever u ended up traveling to, have fun!
