They each have their upsides and downsides.
Upsides:
BIG CITY- Food. Culture. Emergency Rooms/Trauma Centers. Transportation options (including international airports). Multiple entertainment venues. Lots of people to meet, particularly when young & single. Anonymity, if you want it. Educational & Career options.
SMALL TOWN- Mom & Pop Shops. Local traditions and sense of community. Usually safer, less traffic, and lower expensive. Cleaner air & environment in general. Familiarity with people. “Room to breathe”. Usually far more house for your money. Small town politics are less bureaucratic and often more personal.
Downsides:
BIG CITY: Traffic. Crime. Inefficient, massive, bureaucratic government. Lack of community or belonging. Hefty taxes & fees. Noisy. Real
Estate can be very expensive for very little actual property. Homeless & petty street annoyances.
SMALL TOWN: Nosy people and no privacy. The gossipers can be intolerable. Fewer educational or career options. Lowers income potential. Lack of cultural events, museums, theaters, performing arts, etc. Lack of advanced medical resources in a emergency. Fewer transportation options.
I’ve lived in both and am comfortable in both. I have found the suburbs a nice middle ground and, where I live, I can be in a small town or one of the biggest cities in the US in one hour either direction.

honestly I would rather live out in the country and live in a smaller City but have access to a bigger city if I needed it or if I wanted it
when I was younger and the world was a whole different place I used to go to the clubs every Saturday and Sunday our tea car speedway and watch the races or go out camping
and I loved it but back then my city wasn't too big and it wasn't too small I mean it was just right really but now that I'm older the country would do me just fine a smaller City would do me just fine the happy good relationship with give me just fine peace of mind would do me just fine
and one of the cool parts is get to go see my grandmother and grandfather when I was younger and they lived in a small small City like what's in your picture I mean they had one little main Street with a bunch of buildings and that was it even though they had dirt bike shops and they had everything that you need I absolutely loved it because it was so small everybody knows everybody
but it's smaller City a good relationship and that's perfect for me I live in the country what do you want to do big city or small City
Small town fornsure. I can't stand noise I love peaceful environment. Im small twons there's more homeschool mom's we all gather at our twins libery. If I wear only dresses no makenup people won't judge me. In small town you can even feel the Lord's presence. Not only that but small twon mostly there more christian people that I can relate to. In the city way to much worldly people People look at me like as if I was an alien for wearing dresses no city is not for me.
My experience:
I arranged it so that my job is in a small town. When I am there I can relax and reset. After sometime, it gets boring. Then I go to a bigger city, and work from there. (Can work remote)
If you can’t do it, I’d say big city but you could visit smaller towns as a day trip during the weekend. It helped me escape the stress of the city. I can save a lot more money and focus on myself.

I currently live in a small town. There has been too much development over th elast 20 years so it is getting too crowded for me.
A small town within an hour or so of a big city.
I like cute, historic towns, rural surroundings, farms and wholesome lifestyle.
Big cities are nice to visit. They have some cool attractions and good restaurants. But I hate modern architecture, traffic, crowds, noise, lots of lights at night, billboards and electric signs, consumerism, crime, homelessness, living in apartments, and disconnection from nature.I've lived in both and I'm impartial to one or the other. In a city... I'd prefer a place with no windows, made out of brick. Like an old storage building turned into my home. I would store excess food and have my usual methods of distilling water because they put chemicals in the water that turn the freakin frogs gay... and the fish into trans.
Both would have me stockpiling guns and ammo. I might park my car outside in the country though.
Small town life is the way to go to be honest. Cheaper, safer, funnier and quieter. Folks are friendlier, they bond closer with people easier and value things and people more and small town folk take care of their own.
also farmers markets are nice or just calling a farmer you know up and be like I want to buy a couple dozen farm fresh eggs. There’s also a farm about 15-25 minutes away from me that has a store the family built on the property where you can buy homemade jams, cheese farm raised meat, vegetables, fruit, pretty much anything you want all made or raised on that farm.
and don’t get me started about the nature, dirt roads, stars, gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, fields, farms, forests, plains, lakes n ponds, trails, etc.
lots of perks to living in a small town. But I also live 45 minutes from a major city to so I can still get all the stuff you get in a bigger city and there are like 6 other towns closer then that to go to.
Small town, 100%. There are fewer things to do, but people are nicer, it's safer, cheaper, quieter, often have more nature, and quality of life is better.
I've tried both and I couldn't go back to live in a big cities.
TRY THAT IN A SMALL TOWN!!! Sorry, I love to say that ironically to very tame things😂😂😂
I like both vibes, I’m a city kid at heart, but now I’m getting accustomed to that suburban life, and it’s definitely got its “pros.” I think my increasing annoyance with traffic could keep me here and out of the city. Suburbanites are….. something, lmao, but I get on ok with most of them.
Small town.
But there are some pros to living in a big cityI lived all my life in and around Philadelphia and Houston. I'd rather try it in a small town. I hear they protect their own.
I am an introvert, so fewer people is better. I went to a small elementary school and prep school. No class in my prep school was over 16 people (and we actually needed to bring in an extra chair for the few classes that had 16). I then went to a small college with among the lowest student to teacher ratio in the nation.
I don't mind living near a big city, I live in West St. Louis county, but I don't want to live in the big firy.SMALL TOWN.
i don't like the insincerity of big cities.
everything that is more is less valued
more human, humans are less valuable
with small towns people cares about each other and has easier time to have close bonds.
Maybe a small town. I mean, I'd still be able to work a job without a need for a vehicle, could go to places, and all of that other stuff. And less noise.
Lived in both. Prefer rural and buying direct from local farms instead of mass produced crap with little nutrition
Small town for sure. They are better then big cities in almost every way aside from shopping, and maybe commercial entertainment.
I love shopping and nightlife so big city for me. Not exactly in the middle of the city but like 20 minutes away.
Small town. I live in the outskirts of a major city and would definitely prefer to be here (or somewhere even quieter) than in the city itself
I'll take the small town simply because in the end it's less assholes, less problems. The only problem with the small town is you're more likely to have problems with the same old assholes again.
I already live in a small crappy town there’s hardly anything to do here have to go further afield to do stuff
Small town everyone knows your business lol … i rather a big city
I live in the major city, pretty close to city center. worth! the excellent food is one reason, and getting to meet new people regularly.
Major city. I like being around people even if I prefer to avoid interacting with them.
