I'm more of a country boy. And I'm also someone who can't (and won't) swim, and shouldn't be exposed to too much sunlight. And a lot of sand could kill me lol
What's wrong with an open field, or forest, or the mountains? Or even an abandoned farm or railroad?
I personally find the sea overrated.

I spent a lot of time in Texas and Oklahoma. I liked it and would not mind going back someday but I grew up on the water and could not imagine living away from it.
I like both, I like rural and inland so I have a lot of summer time in fields forests etc, I do mountain biking n hiking, also a lot of lying on the ground looking at sky, birds n clouds.
However, I also love a quiet beach, lying back relaxing, watching seals, dolphins etc.
both are good , admittedly we don’t have scorching sun in England lol
Are the British beaches rocky, and the waters cold?
Just thought I'd ask.
No we have some of the best beaches in the world
North Sea yeah cold
Atlantic gets the Gulf Stream so it’s warmer

Local beach
Yes. I enjoy the natural green, woodsy areas, the romantic light from the moon and the stars, enjoying a bonfire and seeing the soft glow sets a cozy, romantic aesthetic. The mountains and forest are where it's at. I'm not one for the beach myself, the sand fleas, salty water that dries my skin, the sunburns and irritation of sensitive skin from the rays. I'm Irish and my skin is paper white, so NO beach for me.
Unless it's at night time.
Also, you don't need to worry about sharks (great whites and makos at least) in the country. No creepy sailors in their boats checking you out either lol
I think you get even more intimacy and solitude in the wilderness than on a beach or island, when you think about it.
Exactly :) I agree fully!
Anyway, like I said, I prefer the countryside; more peace and quiet, less deadly wildlife (unless you count bears lol), you're more "hidden," and it just feels more magical. I love the greenery, trees, rolling hills, valleys and old barns and railroad tracks.
It's just that I can't swim well, I can take some sun just not a whole lot (my skin is still light enough to burn), and the sand sucks. Too many birds too.
