Would you be willing to take a 21-hour nonstop flight?

Question

In October 2027, Qantas will launch Project Sunrise, and start direct non-stop flights from Sydney Australia to London England. Using an Airbus A350-1000ULR (Ultra Long Range) aircraft. The flight will land 21 hours after takeoff. Multiple flight crews will be onboard, working in shifts. Would you be willing to sit in an airplane for 21 hours? Please vote in the poll.

Last year, I've flown on a new Singapore Airlines Airbus A350 from New York City to Singapore.

I had to take that flight because I needed to be in Singapore as soon as I could.

I recall that the flight was more or less 18 hours and roughly 9,500 miles or maybe even 10,000 miles.

Despite the plush business class seats and service, the comfort factor was diminishing about halfway through that flight.

If they offered private suites on the A350 like they have on the humongous A380s which I've already enjoyed on other SIA routes, I wouldn't mind extremely long flights.

I wish that there'd be a super sonic transport again like the Concord except quieter and more fuel efficient.

I wouldn't need the private suite since the flight won't take long.

i have taking direct flights to Asia multiple times and it’s between 14-17 hrs. Went by fast because we slept, watched 2-3 movies. Get to know those who are also traveling, mingle with and chit chat with flight attendants… walk back and forth…. Went by fast with these activities.

also, in life, there are always options. Australia/New Zealand is in my bucket list. Either way, no direct from the US

we will most likely spend a week in France/england. Fly to Thailand for a week then to Australia…

Whilst New Zealand is slightly more distant from Europe and North America it is not that much more.

I have done those flights and I am DONE with being in a tin can for 24 hours. Walking to the toilet is a very low highlight activity

It'll be better if it is only 21 hours but not by much. The next time I do it, I'll take a layover on the way that is a bit longer than the stop at Singapore. Don't get me wrong, I do like the cactus garden at the Singapore airport but I am over it now.

Only if the seats were in First Class and the food was better than decent. And my luggage gets checked for free. And the luggage gets hauled by someone other than me. And I get pillows and a blanket. And I get my choice of any movie sever made. And if they are late, a driver with limo takes me home.

I would go directly after 3 day techno festival to airport. Just drink something getting to toilet and fall asleep, then waking up fresh and jetlag free somewhere over Australia.
Other option, I would take a laptop and write a book.

The longest flight I ever took was 11.5 hours from Los Angeles to Frankfurt. I swear, half way through, I was ready to get off. I tried watching movies, sleeping, pacing up and down the aisles but it was miserable. So I don't think I would sign up for a 21 hour flight.

If I could take a journey back in time from 1976 to 2003 I would rather take a Concorde. A flight from Sydney, Australia to London, England on a Concorde would have taken approximately 13.5 hours of total travel time.

If I could comfortably lie down and sleep in privacy, I might do this. If I couldn't do that I wouldn't even consider it. Also, I would want to have decent food on the airplane, not the kind of crap that you usually get.

I don’t think so… I’ve been in really long flights (over 10 hours) and they are manageable if I can arrive faster, but they get really uncomfortable after 5 hours tbh. I couldn’t imagine staying in the same position, sitting for almost 24 hours. Connecting flights are important, they allow you to walk and stretch a little bit and use the bathroom at the airport more comfortably than in a flight.

not possible. the plane has to refuel. I took a 32 hour flight when deployed. 747, that sucked ass. had to refuel 4 times. we flew from Norfolk VA - Florida- New Hampshire- Germany- Kuwait- UAE. why criss cross the US? it's the military.
