I believe deep in the motive of taking nude photos, in this way, is to have the person feel that they are apart of something bigger, like a movement. The movement has different meaning to some based on what they believe feminism to be. Ultimately, women taking pictures of their own body is their own business, plain and simple.
People just need to realise sexualisation is not the same thing as objectification! Objectification is degrading and dehumanising What's wrong with sexualisation, if done consentingly? People are allowed to take pride in their appearance, and sex as a whole shouldn't be some taboo subject
panay, she spoke down on beyonce for showing off cleavage and how women are posing topless on covers then she did the SAME THING. sexualisation puts you in the same image of a sexual possession which IS objectifying.
@applesandoranges22 well i think its hypocritical for her to sexualize herself while criticising other people for it, but i don;t think either of them did anything wrong outside of that
That's hardly the most exposing thing I've ever seen, and I think the picture is quite tasteful. I don't see an issue. So, I don't see they hypocrisy. Plus, I don't think I've ever seen feminism defined as covering up/modesty, it's about owning who you are as a woman. I don't think the pictures are tacky. So, again, I don't see the issue.
This is just another slut-shaming argument -- she's not to be taken seriously because she dresses in an alluring way, arousing sexual feelings in me. If she were truly a feminist she would only appear in public in a burqa.
That's crap. You aren't arguing with her positions at all, you are just making an ad hominem attack based on something she wore once. Maybe you just aren't comfortable with the idea that she's smarter than you.
I don't think it was the smartest thing to do when she's trying to move society forward with consideration to feminism but it's hardly surprising, she has a film due to come out shortly, this was probably intentional to cause controversy and put her in the spot light. She's overrated in my opinion.
Just like how different socialists have different ideas. There are National Socialists (Nazis, most of whom oppose equal rights for minorities) and Democratic Socialists (most of whom adamantly support equal rights for minorities). National Socialists hate Jewish people, but Bernie Sanders, prominent Democratic Socialist, is himself Jewish.
Groups are allowed to have varying opinions within them.
and I have seen a lot of your posts as you are a radical feminist who thinks they are above others. after all, women are ''smarter'' than men, right? The difference is, that your type gets media coverage. Such a sad case.
and cases like this or comments like yours shows the irony in a supposed movement that is for equality. feminism has changed from a genuine movement to a bunch of money hungry, male slandering, hate mongering hypocrites who think they are better than men and are always the victim.
feminism is about female empowerment. about feeling like they can do anything and not feel constrained by their gender. so feminism should support a woman wearing whatever they want. they can be critical of it but to try and limit a person's choice is to take power away from them.

Whaaaaaaaat? A feminist being a hypocrite you say? Unbelievable!
Seriously though, all western feminists today are hypocrites, including Ms Watson.
The crap described in this take is just another example of what a joke feminism has become. Feminists can't even agree on what their "fighting for". They're just fighting amongst themselves. Feminism is just a big cluster fuck that makes the whole female gender look utterly ridiculous.
Emma Watson drank the feminist kool-aid and became a puppet for the ideology. She failed big time and is now playing the only card she has left: sex sells. It's not going to work. She's becoming irrelevant very quickly. All this take is showing me is that even other feminists don't like her.

Feminism
1: the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes. 2: organized activity on behalf of women's rights and interests. 3. a group that once had noble ideas that later devolved into a perversity of GREED and HATRED towards men and utter confusion for EVERYBODY. Ironically this movement has made women more miserable than happy. It's creating something women don't want (beta males).
This is why celebrities shouldn't be dominating the conversation on political movements.
She's a young woman who's life is mostly been about playing a character adapted from a children's book. She's a good face for feminism because she's unconventionally pretty (in terms of what's considered true hotness) She should be the face and not say what she really thinks lol because she's not really versed well enough in political movements to understand the nuances.
It's now commonly known that feminists will just for whatever is most convenient at the moment, altering earlier agreed upon ideals, if not out right going against them. Rinse and repeat.
Funny, I find Emma Watson as almost intimidating to me, like out of my league, and I don't understand why many women see showing sexuality as a betrayal of women's equality. That type of power which I think women always have over men from the time we all enter puberty (girls first of course) is one of the most obvious powers women have over men, if they choose to wield it.
Exactly. I mean a lot feminism is to do with choice and some is to do with the 'free the nipple' movement, which is based on proving that women's breasts shouldn't be oversexualised and we should be allowed to walk around without bras if we CHOOSE to do so. We know that this is not merely a fantasy because it works in practice in a few African and Asian tribes and countries. Bras are also expensive and uncomfortable (like esp. at the start; the first time I had to keep one on for 6 hours I was in tears) and seeing a guy walking around topless in summer makes you want to cry. Feminism is to do with respect, but not just respect for women who fit into a specific box. If that was the case then feminism would oppress lots of women and that is unfair, because if showing some skin, esp. breasts makes you a slut or whatever, then is Barack Obama a slut for going swimming in the gulf without covering his upper body?
I know it might sound completely crazy to a person who looks at women as these foreign species from Venus but most girls don't oversexualise their breasts and so it seems unfair that guys get away with walking around topless when they have breasts, which yes are smaller but still capable of lactation, and yet if we walk around without a bra and a shirt (so our nipples might be a little visible), it's a tragedy.
Finally, just to add, feminism is largely to do with tolerance and therefore any feminist who claims that a women should fall into this or that box to be considered proper is not a feminist at all. Yes you can still have preferences to how you should live your life but those preferences should not be used to oppress and abuse others .
Anyone is entitled to do as they want, when they want. but there is something extrememy realistic in todays society, that is called ''DOUBLE MORAL' and lot's of people have it. thereby a lot of people are full of bullshit. Sorry to be so brutally honest but it's the sad truth.
she is a hypocrite, of course. She is just a pathetic puppet from the feminist movement who is trying to fix the damage that feminism has done, they use her stupid "qualities" to speak to people and trying to convince us that feminism is all about equality, sorry Emma. we are not idiots, we haven't born yesterday, we know very well what your movement is doing to society.
I lost interest in everything to do with Emma Watson when she became the face of the He For She (Feminist) bullshit. Since then, she is dead to me.

Feminists are hypocrites, this isn't new. They claim to be for equality but mock and ridicule male victims. They claim to be for the rights of women but attack women who don't agree with them. They claim to be against sexualization of women but generally use sex as a tool.
i don't know how many feminist-bashing compilations you've watched but feminism is about equal rights male and female, fighting against double standards in society about any gender. "feminists" hating on men are called feminazi's. there are a lot of them abusing feminism for their own importance you know.
@moamine11 HAHA Nice try, you have injested the toxic feminist kool-aid bud. But here's the thing, it isn't going to get girls to like you. Feminism is NOT about equal rights. It just puts that shit in its definition so it can make the claim to weak minded fools. The ACTIONS of feminism speak for its true nature. Western females are the most privileged group of humans to ever exist, there is no "rape culture" there is no "wage gap", women have MORE rights and privileges than men. Feminist don't fight the double standards, they mock and ridicule male victims. The "femnazi" scapegoat only works if it were rogue crazies. But massive feminist organizations like NOW, WAR, and UN for women have pushed anti-male bullshit. The most famous voices of feminism like dworkin, solanas, greer, etc have all spewed male hate. These are the CORE of feminism. They are the quoted, idolized, and studied. THIS is feminism. It's lies, it's bullying, it's false victimhood, it's hate.
there is a difference between toxic feminism and classical feminism and i highly recommend you to look for the differences. please do some research and come back
@moamine11 here's where your logic breaks down. Opting to be part of a group means you adhere to its core principles. So you can't be a "good" nazi or a "good" KKK. The same applies to feminism. You can claim different factions exist, you can make up new definitions or subcategories. You can claim the bad stuff is part of the minority... None of that makes any difference to the core of the group. Only 4% of germans were nazi's and look what they accomplished because the majority did nothing. Feminism at its core is a hate group, it always has been. The "minority" that you scapegoat as the "toxic" portion, are the ones doing things. They are the ones in the UN, running NOW, getting laws passed to stop fathers rights, pushing laws to make it illegal for men to sit comfortably on a bus. If you take ANY feminist statement and replace "men" with "jews"... you see it for the hate speech it is. Open your eyes man. You are being fed bullshit and believe it because they run the schools.
@Iraqveteran666 Yeah, I definitely agree you. You got the point. I think definition of feminist should have changed into; 'A woman who uses equality as an alibi to talk shit about other women.' It sounds equality in theory but Western women overrate it, misuse it.

According to this post she criticized beyonce for going topless. contradiction

Feminism is about being free to do what you want. Free the nipple is a subcategory of this idea so...

I think exposing her boobs has nothing to do with feminism lol.
The "objectification" of womens bodies?
If she wants to show her body its her choice. If men don't want to show their bodies, its still their choice.
what you dont get is, she made a speech about how wrong this is and how she was a feminist, then she did the same thing.
Oh I didn't spot that. Then she's not a hypocrite, she's a liar.
But why the slut shaming?
@Iraqveteran666 Feminism turned into shit in the West. I think its the reason.
And distorted into something completely different from equality...
I agree. Western feminists seem to flip flop. And it's less about feminism and more a case of women bitching and putting down other women.
@Iraqveteran666 Yeah, I definitely agree you. You got the point. I think definition of feminist should have changed into; 'A woman who uses equality as an alibi to talk shit about other women.' It sounds equality in theory but Western women overrate it, misuse it.
Well said.
a hypocrite is someone who condemns someone for doing something then does the same, so she is the exactly definition of it
@applesandoranges22 Yes she is -.-
