This is a good piece, man. I have seen people doing exactly what you stated here. Very similar to what happened with Japanese Americans back during WWII.
I don’t know, man. Maybe when we see some foreigner calling our entire society idiotic because they had a bad interaction over their home country trying to start a global war and threatening nukes, we tend to not be super friendly towards that person. Maybe understand that Russia is kind of public enemy number one right now and lay off the Russian pride for a few months if you don’t want to hear our opinions about it.
It's not ok for them for call your society idiotic based on one interaction, but it is ok for you to judge them entirely on the actions of a country they have no say in the actions of. Makes total sense.
I didn’t judge anyone except the guy who called my society idiotic for no apparent reason. I’m also judging you now for offering up a completely asinine response.
WTF? My home country is America. And I have loved ones who call Russia home. And to hate someone because of the identity is idiotic. I don't give two cents about your reasoning that Russia is public enemy number one. We are at odds with the Russian government, not Russian people. And it is your thinking that we boogeymen out of entire populations that makes for these endless cycles of violence. Hating Puting, hating the decision makers in Russia is possible without hating Russians or their culture.
If you knew anything about true Russian culture, you would like it.
Hope your family enjoys the incoming economic collapse, famine and extinction of your home country as we know it, Ruskie. You’ve single handedly turned me into the anti Russia boogeyman that you created in your own mind. Fuck Russia.
If they are Putin supporters, so let them go to Russia and support Putin there. But they won't go. You know why? Because as soon as their leg crosses russian border, they will be send to Ukraine to die for Putin.
It isn't surprising, just like over the last couple years of people being racist and attacking random White people and random Asians too. There are many dumb and uninformed people in the USA.
Yeah, because "White" people aren't attacking Asians, "White" people aren't attacking Mexicans and "White" people are not blaming Russians folks for all the world's ills.
Part of American culture is they have to hate certain groups no matter the reason. Isis bombed someone? Hate on us Mexicans or other brown. Corona virus? Hate on muay Thai or Korean BBQ even though they hate china. This time it makes less sense since they are hating on their own people Russia and USA are the same they are both white
Probably not. But this is a larger issue with American society. That you can simply target your hatred at a group rather than getting to know what a person's viewpoint is. Most Russians in this country hate this war.
That's a fact.
But this behavior is not limited to this conflict. It reared its head during Covid, during BLM protests and riots. During the supposed Mexican caravans. Maybe that kind of crap reasoning is just stupid. Maybe talking to folks about what they actually believe and support is the only way you are going to know what they actually believe and support.
let's be real the majority of the world hates americans and have no real reason other than American fat and dumb, but as soon as americans hate on anybody it becomes a issue
keep in mind the only russians i have an issue with are their government and military higher ups the soldiers are just doing what they have to and the citizens are just trying to survive a economic crisis
Well, that is simply not true. Most of Europe disagreed with us over the Iraq war. That is an actual substantive issue. Europe disagreed with us over climate change, the NATO alliance, etc. Those are actual things can be be discussed.
But you can't really discuss something like hatred for Russians. . . because they are Russian. Or hatred for Chinese because they are Chinese.
disagreements? really? the world has been very open with their hatred of america take the french for example, america literally sends them money and the average french person will tell you they hate americans even if they have only met one, but an American can't say i don't like russians, i'm not saying either is in the right but the hypocrisy is very loud
But that's all I am trying to say. And I am American. . . I have traveled. I don't get flak just for being American. I have disagreements with Russian friends over Syria, Over Crimea, etc.
They don't dislike me or my culture. They dislike my views.
you don't travel enough man, English will hate on us french will hate on us half the middle east hates on us russians will hate on us, and a lot of americans will hear that and be like well if they hate me then i hate them
You can believe whatever you wish. I have traveled most of this globe, I have met painfully few folks who hated me for being American. If anything, it was the source of unearned admiration.
But here you are telling me about French people when I have spent literally months in France and I know Paris as well as any American city.
So maybe your issues with France isn't based upon any actual personal experience which is the whole point. Mayhap dislike folks for their stated opinions. Try that. . . just for once. See how it goes.
is it military, cause i know military try to always be friendly but their are lots of citizens that will openly say, i hate americans but you're alright, also we can both agree that paris is not what people believe it to be
I am pretty certain I have traveled more than you. If you ever wish to leave the protective cover of the anonymous internet, I can show you just how much I have traveled. In fact, I practically lived in Paris for months on an integration project.
After that, I traveled to the Netherlands, Turkey, the UK, Italy, Latvia, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Germany, Austria. . . and that's just off the top of my head.
bruh ima be real with you i do not care if you have traveled more than me lol i have traveled less and i can tell you people hate us, not everybody but lots and you seem to only have an issue with americans so maybe if you ever stop being such a hypocrit you can see how calling americans idiotic for doing things every country does is pretty stupid
the sad thing is agree with the people shouldn't do these things and it is dumb to do it but only saying one country shouldn't is as ignorant as it gets
Wow. . . maybe that whole guessing game you got going won't lead to any accuracy?
Again, try listening to what people believe. Maybe try understanding who I am, why I have traveled and where I have traveled, etc. . . and you might a bit more accurate in your perceptions.
Because I can guarantee, that guessing about my experiences will yield wrong answers.
i didn't say you were military lol i just know the military is very polite to each other especially back when they did missions in the middle east together, all that traveling and still jumping to conclusions cause you didn't read
but i will say wholeheartedly that if someone agrees with what putin is doing they are either brainwashed or are just plain disgusting, if you think you can justify putin killing civilians in ukraine then you are just asking to be bullied honestly
First you claim it is important to travel, then you claim it isn't important when you realized you overstepped with me.
Wow. . .
You are justifying hating folks for their group membership alone. And you do not see that as a serious issue. Then you pretend that Americans are hated the world over, when I have not run into that hatred in a single nation that I have been in.
And I will say again, it is only in America where people rationalize, irrational hatred. And you are the shining example. You will cling to your hatred. . . because you imagine others are clinging to theirs,.
you are the one that said traveling is important, i have said multiple times that i don't think people should hate the russians for what their government and military does, and last thing if you are trying to justify the murder of civilians by saying i shouldn't hate putins supporters then i also hate you cause idc what you have to say the murder of civilians is wrong no natter who does it, stop acting like your morally superior cause you jump to conclusions and just sound ignorant
you are trying so hard to win an argument when it is obvious that america is not the only country that does this and it just makes you look like you are coming up with excuses
So you were in Paris and you met loads of French folks hating you because you were not American?
Let me give you an illustration.
In my first stay in France I was there for a month. And I was working this project with a few different teams. I was based out of Chicago at the time. But there were teams from New York and from London also. I had to work with Project Manager from New York. A woman, who had not been out of the country before. We had totally different experiences. I hung out with the English guys and I got some excellent advice. They told me, do whatever I could to attempt to speak French. Even if it was just hello and thank you. She did not get such advice.
So when we would go out, because you know. . I was trying to hit it. We would have different responses to our attempts to ask for directions, get service or get someone's attention. She would just ask in English and folks would be rude to her. Then I would ask in broken French and folks were really nice.
Maybe that's your issue, when you visit Paris. Try it out.
And dude, you are only 21 years old. Try living a little bit before jumping to conclusions about whole groups of people.
you literally are such a hypocrit lol, try exploring more before you jumo to conclusions about whole groups of people you say while also saying why do all americans justify their hatred, like you do see the weird part right
and you also just admitted someone speaking English was enough for them to be rude to her so i am so confused with what you are trying to say, if that was an American being rude to someone who spoke Spanish you would lose your mind but because it is in Europe it is ok to do to americans, bruh i am done with your incompetence it makes no sense how you can ignore not only what i have said but what you said
Those are you words. Then not even one post later you claim you don't care how much I have traveled.
And here's the thing, you are not even embarrassed about it. You don't even attempt to say, "you know, I made a mistake", or "I changed my mind". You just erratically and nonsensically pretend you have made some consistent rational argument. When you have done anything but.
So as a person who has traveled to a lot of places on this earth, I am still waiting for this evidence of hatred towards American people.
you said you traveled and never saw what i was talking about so i said you must not travel enough i didn't say it was important i was telling you how if you travel you know what i mean even if you refuse to believe it
I’ve found that the people on this site tend to be severely emotionally compromised, perhaps political discussions with emotionally fragile people is a wasted effort.
I said American society, I didn't say all Americans. You can pretend this isn't an issue. But the countless angry ranting threads at GaG reveal a basic truth. So do the countless polls of American society. We are divided, we know we are divided and we keep making excuses to maintain those divisions. And here you are, defending the hatred of someone based upon their group identity and not their views or beliefs.
Bro how many McDonalds are being shot up in Germany because of "hating" Americans.
We are legendary for having a bunch of Karen's attack Sikh men because they think they are terrorists, or telling native Americans to "go back to your own country".
And let's also be real, we've been pulling Europe into middle east quagmires for decades, so it's probably why there's a bit of tension.
@OpenClose Yeah, I only know of one shooting at a McDonalds in Germany. And that was by a man with a Muslim background. He wasn't an ethnic German. I have been so many places in Europe, I have basically lived there for months at a time because of consulting projects. And I can count my negative experiences on one hand.
But I am not like the folks in this thread. I don't beat people over the head with my politics. I don't talk negatively about other cultures. I don't brag about how much better America is than their country. A lot of folks here have some serious issues. So I could definitely see them running into problems in other societies, because they don't seem to have much respect for experiences outside of their own.
But in most of my travels folks have gone out of their way to help me.
@OctopusEars I find the opposite. What is the point of engaging in some weird philosophical hypothetical political discussion, when it doesn't have anything to do with real life?
I get the sociopathic weirdness. But to pretend that you would maintain your political philosophies while hiding in the basement of your building during a rocket attack isn't common sense.
Nor is it common sense to claim that a person is thinking about their political philosophy while trying to figure out what they will eat tomorrow. Unless you have made that into a political issue.
Two-faced people only talk about the sins of the other person, but they don't talk about how American bastards have destroyed the world, how they have turned the Middle East into a bloodbath to protect Israel.
What does that have to do with holding folks responsible for the actions of their government or military? Especially when they disagree with whatever the conflict was?
If so, why do you only feel sorry for Ukraine, don't the others count as human in your eyes? The whole world says only ukraine, but before ukraine, Syria, iraq, east turkestan, kashmir, myanmar, you close your eyes and say only ukraine.
Why does goodwill towards Ukrainian refugees not apply to Syrians as well? From why? There are 9 million Syrians in my country and our economy is collapsing but Europe and others are doing nothing.
Look, I support you, we already have the same opinion, but people should do to China, America and Israel what they did to the Russians. But they don't.
I don't only feel sorry for Ukraine. And your political confusion is pretty evident. I posted about holding Russian people responsible for something Putin has done.
So if you want to rant about American foreign policy, rant someplace else. You were disingenuous from the start.
And I'm telling you that you're right. People only treat Russians as murderers, but this is not the case when Israel and America do the same. I repeat, I agree with you in this treatment of Russian citizens, but I am just angry with people.
Well this is an issue we have in American society. We have talked about this to death. To learn about a persons views try asking them about their views.
There are folks who would rather eat nails than do that simple thing.
Its weird. I am here trying to make that argument. But not so much so that it destroys group identity, right? I think you can associate cultural traits with different cultures.
I just think people should be accurate.
But even that is stereotyped as being a uber/ultra liberal SJW conspiracy. And I have gotten into knockdown dragouts in this very forum, just arguing that. To encourage folks to not be so lazy as to not ask or inquire about a person's views or at least their group identity.
But I have never seen you confront a single one of these trolls.
You just confronted me about this recurring conversation we have in this society.
So my question is, why is it healthy to pretend we do not have this conversation in some way at every level?
I don't "confront" trolls because they don't have real opinions; they just say the worst possible thing at any given moment. My questioning of you isn't out of disdain, it is out of respect because I think you come off as a real person with a real brain that I could have an intellectual conversation with
I just don't agree that we are responsible for Putin. When he started down the path of Russian nationalism, Russia people should have checked him. I told my Russian friends then. . . that nationalism will lead to Russia's demise.
Its funny, we have talked about this. . . in terms of race. "White" and "Black". But folks here don't or can't see the parallel. That aside, my Russian friends here feel ostracized, blamed, stereotyped, and I feel that. I empathize with that.
And it is one of the weirdest things when people claim they can't see the parallel.
Milstein, a Ukrainian native who is now an American citizen and represents approximately 75 percent of the Russian and Belarusian players in the league, is stunned by some words coming from fans.
"The discrimination and racism these Russian and Belarusian players are facing right now is remarkable," Milstein told ESPN's Emily Kaplan. "We're being set back 30 years. I have players calling me, parents calling me. They're concerned whether they'll be able to play, whether they'll be safe."

Yeah, just finished talking to Zagor about that. Even as my members who are Asian talked about harassment, we had others deny their experiences.
That was crazy.
Americans just can't go a year without hating someone new.

Exactly!!!

In our weird society, that certainly is possible.

My questioning of you isn't out of disdain, it is out of respect because I think you come off as a real person with a real brain that I could have an intellectual conversation with
Hot take: Maybe it's America's fault everyone is at war. Sanctimonious is not a good look over here.
I just don't agree that we are responsible for Putin. When he started down the path of Russian nationalism, Russia people should have checked him. I told my Russian friends then. . . that nationalism will lead to Russia's demise.
Putin's probably just cleaning up America's mess. I hope the Russians live a long, healthy life.
I don't have a single issue with Russian people.
I guess you didn't read my take.
@Mossberg500 It is time to shut your crazy jewish hating ass up.
I have not encountered anyone that hates Russians in America unless they hated them before this
Well, I have. And it is a simplistic nonsensical weird notion.
To be perfectly honest. This is a question I’ve asked myself for a long time
Its funny, we have talked about this. . . in terms of race. "White" and "Black". But folks here don't or can't see the parallel. That aside, my Russian friends here feel ostracized, blamed, stereotyped, and I feel that. I empathize with that.
I don’t see how race can be brought into this.
Well, we have talked about it. Again and again.
Well I’m not one of those people giving them problems so keep me out of this
People are People and deserve to be treated with respect and love no matter where they are from.
And this concept seems to be impossible for Americans to grasp.
People love a witch hunt.
American society? You are clueless.
That’s nice
