Was it wrong for Hillary Duff to kiss her 4-year old son on the lips?

Hilary Duff wanted to share a sweet picture from her family Disneyland trip.

But the photo she posted on Instagram, showing the actress kissing her 4-year-old son Luca on the mouth, ignited criticism in the comment section, with some users calling the display of affection "inappropriate."

On Tuesday, Duff responded to the negative messages with a second post:

"For anyone commenting that a kiss on the lips with my four year old is 'inappropriate,' go ahead a click a quick unfollow with your warped minds and judgement"
the post reads.

I think people are stupid. There is nothing wrong with this picture and everyone is overreacting. My parents used to kiss me on the lips and I thought nothing of it.

No she wasn't people from different countries and different cultures kiss or express love differently like in Paris they kiss each others cheeks or in Alaska they rub their noses together.

Some people may think it's weird and shit but chill out people, the lips are just a part of the body, its literally just used to eat food, its not racy or anything. I mean I don't think i'll be the type of mom to kiss on the mouth, probably the cheek, but some mothers just do it like that. If you think about it, mother birds feed their children directly through the mouth and believe it or not you spread less germs kissing on the lips than you shaking hands, and knowing that children get sick easily, it makes sense.
I mean there's other things to talk about or worry about. I think people are nosy.

I've kissed him like that hundreds of times.
People always want to make things inappropriate when it isn't.
Why should strangers dictacte how I show my love to my own kid? They should target their anger at child abusers and molesters. She has done nothing wrong.

I love ignorant people. It makes me proud about myself about how wise I am and how well my parents raised me. It automatically makes me a superior person (in the most obvious way, not being conceited here). I mean just look at it... seriously? People should realise the fact that kiss is about love (romance in some cases, but not all) and not about sex.

I'm 21 and my mom still kisses me on the lips. Not openly tho. When I was little, she used to do it openly, but now, she does it before going to work, when I'm sleeping. She touches my forehead and hair and kisses me and then leaves. Sometimes, I get waked up and notice what she has done. I pretend to stay asleep tho lol. I've seen far worse. I was once riding in a public bus, and a woman with a boy about the same age as the one on this story were sitting in front of me.
