I don't freaking believe it. This shooter was released on only a $75,000 bond? Why so little? He should have had a $2million dollar bond. Maybe this is why school shooters don't care as they just get a slap on the wrist and released.
A student who is accused of opening fire in a Texas high school on Wednesday has been released on bond, according to multiple reports.
Timothy George Simpkins, 18, posted a $75,000 bond and was released from Tarrant County Jail on Thursday, according to local ABC affiliate WFAA. Four people were injured in the shooting.
Simpkins, who was a student at Timberview High School in Arlington, Texas, was inside a classroom on the second floor of the building when a fight started between him and a 15-year-old student, according to an arrest warrant reported by The Fort Worth Star-Telegram
Once teachers were able to break up the fight, Simpkins walked to an orange backpack, grabbed a gun and began shooting at the student he fought with.
One student told police that Simpkins shot seven to eight times, and others said they heard three to six shots, according to the Star-Telegram.
The student who fought Simpkins was in critical condition as of Thursday, according to the newspaper. A teenage girl was grazed by a bullet but was treated and released from the hospital.
A 25-year-old teacher who broke up the fight was also shot, but is in good condition, the newspaper reported. Another teacher was injured, but she fell and was not shot.
Simkins fled the scene of the shooting, but later turned himself in. He is facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
"The decision he made, taking the gun, we're not justifying that," Harrison Lafayette told the newspaper. "That was not right. But he was trying to protect himself. And so we hope that the police department does the investigation properly."
With the stigma of schools shooting why would a shooter be released on bod?
You're right, of course. When it is painfully obvious that someone who "allegedly" committed a serious shooting really and obviously DID do it, they should be held without bond.
"Aggravated assault with a daily weapon" is too low of a charge. He HAD the gun in his possession: that indicates forethought which brings this to at least "attempted murder, 2nd degree", along with (likely) illegal possession of a weapon, (depending on the location) illegal discharge of a weapon, along with "aggravated battery with a deadly weapon" , not just assault (which is only a threat of danger).
I just had a thread of someone being let out on bond for capital murder and they killed someone else. And another of a guy who was in jail and let out on bond then went and killed his girlfriend. Violent acts don't deserve a bond at all much less a paltry $75,000.
My guess is that he’s not rich and a person of color. There are many states setting laws about not keeping people on bond which are completely dumb. I agree the bins should have been much higher or better yet no bond at all. Sit your ass in jail until the trial and then accept the death penalty bc your in Texas
He was advocating for black supremacy and wanted to kill as many white people as he could. Guess I was right, the US is slowly accepting that killing white people when you're black is ok.
