If he genuinely thought it was safe to use then no. But if he knew it was a danger then yes. But the fact the same guy who worked on the Crow 2 where Brandon Lee was shot I'd be thinking he is either incompetent or deadly. The prop handler is to blame.
After all wouldn't you trust your collegues at work if they handed you a gun they say is just a toy?
I didn't know it was the same jerkoff guy who did crow 2. Why was he even allowed to work on a movie set again after that fiasco. Who hired that moron to begin with? His ass needs to be put behind bars permanently this time. That guy is a danger to everyone around him
Yes. Whenever you are handling a firearm you are responsible for that firearm and adhering to firearm safety. Whether it’s loaded, unloaded or a BB gun. It was negligence of both the prop department and Baldwin.
Of course he should be charged. Anybody who handles a firearm is responsible for that firearm. It doesn't matter if it is called a prop gun. A firearm, called a prop gun, that is capable of firing live rounds! Whoever has the gun/weapon in their possession is the RESPONSIBLE adult. Life is not all fun and games. I realize the situation. I realize they are shooting a movie. I get all the details. Sorry Alec, you should be more careful with firearms.
@mobiusforniner I agree with @Quigly. Even though the props manager should be checking that the props are safe, it should always be up to the individual answer to verify that. It's too easy to blame others for things we should be doing ourselves, and this appears to be an unfortunate example of that.
@AviatorTom not sure if you're an aviator or not. But as an aviator myself, we all know the last responsible decision for any flight operation is on the head of the pilot. Same applies to guns
It should be investigated if he had any motive and if he knew there was real munition there. But if he had no idea, then he's innocent, and the guilty person is the one putting real bullets in the gun
I don't pre-judge. Let's let law enforcement figure out what happened and take appropriate action. If there is evidence that someone was reckless, that someone should be prosecuted.
More thoughts on this... If safety protocol was truly followed, the action on the set would have been arranged so that the non-actors (director and photography director, who were both shot) would not be in the line of fire. Obviously, that wasn't done, so maybe film productions need to improve their safety protocols to more than just what the prop managers do.
Hmmm, well, was Baldwin's pointing the gun in the direction he did appropriate and not negligent? That's something that was under his control. Did he follow proper firearm safety procedures?
I don't know the details. If it was a prop and it was supposed to be used for this film/project it would be hard to charge him with anything... unless he was really doing something negligent.
Amber Guyger was given 10 years in prison for accidentally shooting someone and killing him. So Alec Baldwin should get the same sentence. "I didn't know the gun was loaded" is not an excuse. You check every time!
Although, I'm certainly no fan of that fuckwit, so far, it sounds to me like it was completely accidental! If the investigators find out that it WASN'T, then, yeah, he should be charged!!
The “ actor” if that’s what you want to call that piece of shit, pulled the trigger, it’s HIS responsibility to oversee the loading of the firearm and know what is or isn’t coming out of the barrel.
@rcljr I don't know what you feel or don't feel about Alec Baldwin but your response sounds pretty personal! Maybe you need to go seek a little help! It was an accident and no one will probably get charged!
Maybe you need to fuck off and grow up, you sound like a typical leftist that doesn’t want to accept any responsibility for their actions. You’re one of those with $150,000 in student loans that think the taxpayers need to pay your loan off even after they are the ones that gave you the money in the first place.
@rcljr Bruh. Why are you so aggressive? She gave her opinion on a site that is meant for people to give their opinions and you straight up just start attacking her with whatever made-up bullshit that is.
@rcljr you have to exposed yourself to be the political wacko. I thought you were based on your response to the situation. So, as I said earlier seek help "Angry Man!" Before you end up hurting someone!
There is a point here if you're heading to a fake firearm you're handling it you probably should check it for cases like this this is why he looks like a crazy fuck that was switch bullets he has a reputation for fucking up people
@Rob17792 if you go back and look I was trying to have a civil conversation with the above-mentioned. And then he started with the the actor if that's what you want to call him and then proceeded to use profanity.
Freak accident or not he would be charged with involuntary man slaughter. That's what it means, you didn't mean to kill the guy since it was an accident but you still get charged for it.
He won't be charged he wasn't in charge of props. The big picture is there was a movie being filmed which involved him holding a gun and firing. They will be investigating whoever was in charge of props and that particular one.
@Cocoture , as with any firearm or weapons system , it is the shooter’s responsibility to know what the weapon is loaded with before squeezing the trigger. “ he’s an actor” is a bullshit excuse, he’s just as guilty of murder as the prop guy that loaded the thing. In todays digital world there’s no need for even blank ammo in the movies, the sound and visual effect can be created digitally without using ammo at all.
@rcljr he will not be charged. There will be an investigation. Unless it was premeditated and a deliberate act by someone no one will be charged. I feel sorry for the families involved. But if it pans out to be an accident again no one will be charged.
Read my first comment. Regardless of it being an accident, you still get charged with Involuntary man slaughter. That the key work "involuntary" meaning he did it by accident but he still did it.
If someone ran over another person by accident, that person driving the car still gets charged with involuntary man slaughter. Once again, That's why it's called "involuntary" I don't see how you don't get it.
Well I don't know because in my state 2 friends were playing with a gun that was suppose to be unloaded and there was some sort of lodged bullet they were 15-16 . They charged him with first degree murder at 16.
Where I also know someone in my high school that was a loser and because his mommy and daddy was rich he served 1 year and probation for setting a firework off for fun in a friends house and his sister was sleep and they didn’t know she was in the house and she died.

Not incompetent just deadly. He needs to be put behind bars for everyone's safety
Yes. Whenever you are handling a firearm you are responsible for that firearm and adhering to firearm safety. Whether it’s loaded, unloaded or a BB gun. It was negligence of both the prop department and Baldwin.

No, he didn't know any better. My condolences go out to whoever was hurt.
Hurt is an understatement, I hope Halyna Hutchins rests in peace. I can't even imagine how shocked and confused Alec Baldwin must feel.
If Alex had the gun in his hand it's his responsibility to make sure the gun is safe. It was his responsibility to check to see if it was loaded.
@Quigly That's usually the responsibility of the props manager.
@MountAverage It's the responsibility of anyone with a gun in their hand.
@Quigly I'm not too familiar with the case, so was it a real gun with real ammo?
@MountAverage Obviously it was
@Quigly for anyone who owns or operates firearms, you are spot on
@mobiusforniner I agree with @Quigly. Even though the props manager should be checking that the props are safe, it should always be up to the individual answer to verify that. It's too easy to blame others for things we should be doing ourselves, and this appears to be an unfortunate example of that.
In my previous reply, "answer" should be "user". Auto-correct was auto-incorrect again!

The question is who loaded a prop gun with real bullets at set?
They were blanks
Evidently not
@Vigors blanks wouldn't of killed the victim necessarily it might but highly doubt it
blanks can kill if used too close

OMG. Even eithout charges, he will go down in history as a producer of a deadly film. This will haunt him and so will the loved ones of the victim.
isn't it someones job to make sure of everyones safety on the set?
Involuntary manslaughter for whoever was in charge of props.
It was not his item. He did not maintain that item. He was handed that item. He was instructed to use that item. What responsible part does he have?
He will probably be traumatized for the rest of his life. Very sad, this is definitely not his fault though.
The question is how and who managed to bring real ammo to the filmset in the first place. This accident could easily be avoided.
Although, I'm certainly no fan of that fuckwit, so far, it sounds to me like it was completely accidental! If the investigators find out that it WASN'T, then, yeah, he should be charged!!
I think there could possibly be a case for negligent homicide or manslaughter. Of course, Alec Baldwin is famous, so he'll get off the hook easily.
The props department is in charge and responsible for props, not the actors. It was a freak accident.
The “ actor” if that’s what you want to call that piece of shit, pulled the trigger, it’s HIS responsibility to oversee the loading of the firearm and know what is or isn’t coming out of the barrel.

@NoGamePlan she started attacking him first though go back and reread the entire thing
@NoGamePlan and I don't know why he would even bring up student loans in this discussion for makes no sense at all

@Rob17792 because that’s the kind of people leftists are, they refuse to take responsibility for their own stupid decisions.
Point taken they should be able to name a basketball team after you
@Rob17792 if you go back and look I was trying to have a civil conversation with the above-mentioned. And then he started with the the actor if that's what you want to call him and then proceeded to use profanity.
He's a wacko and he came on here with an agenda! Point Blank!
I'm just here for the free popcorn
