Folks have been trying to tell everyone what those lockdowns were going to bring since they were first implemented ("2 weeks to slow the spread") in early 2020. You've got kids who have lost 2 years of socialization, some stuck in abusive home situations, and unable to cope with the pressure.
If guns weren't available, you'd see bombs or people running down kids with cars (which has also happened, but gets very little press because it doesn't advance the narrative).
The Left has made all of these problems much worse, and that's not an accident. They want reasons to expand government power over the people, and they are happy to exploit each one - and equally as happy to bury any incidents that go against their narrative.
Here in California, DAs are declining to prosecute most crimes, ESPECIALLY against career criminals. They crimes they choose to prosecute are when a middle class person with no criminal background breaks a law, often with no victim or damage - and especially if they are white and male. Those people have the book thrown at them.
In my town, we had a double murder last year - committed by a person who was out on $5000 bail on a different murder charge. There's another couple in town who have been "observed" shoplifting at least 20 times, most on video and many by employees, but the police don't even show up because the DA won't charge them.
That's the insanity that creates the context of this. It's what infuriates the vast majority of people, who are responsible and law-abiding.
No law will ever stop mass murder. No law will eliminate guns in the US - there are FAR too many, and criminals are perfectly willing to kill police to get them, so theft and burglary is a given, as is smuggling them in. If we can't prevent literally tons of Fentynol from being smuggled in, you won't stop guns either, and Fentynol kills far more people in the US than guns.

I dotn live in the USA but will give my opinion as I heard the news about taht tragic incident. Knowing about all this school mass shottings in the past of different universities, schools in the USA and also hearing that most of the shooters were teenagers who as they grew up they were abused, bullied and had a difficult upbringing and they had difficult personalities, and strange behavior. I believe that taking care of your mental health is so important especially to everyone. Because a sane person with no mental issues and who knows to differentiate between right or wrong will never committ these attrocities. These young shooters perhaps never had the chance to be taken care of and deal with their mental issues before andsince they have these mental issues, and being so fragile mentally, , for them the way we tret them or what we say about them will amke them think we are criticize them or not, las they take everything by heart and maybe is just a joke but for them could be a big deal becausel mentally they are not ok they can't differentiate if something said to them is just a joke or a big thing and they take it seriously. These kids need to be treated phsychologically ASAP, cause guns in the wrong hands are weapons of mass destruction. It is nott just about gun control and the problem is solved. Gun control is for sure important, such as who really owns guns and for what purpose they want to have guns if iis not only for self protection and being responsible of who handles those guns. I mean for me the only person who has the right to own guns and have guns for protection must any person of legal age, responsible and mentally sane who works to protect people and citizens (police forces, security guards, marshalls, military, among many other people who work in the protection field who requires to own guns, of course the exception here is when a person who works in the protection field is not mentally right or have personal problems), other than that no other person needs to own guns. I've defended my life twice with a firearm without ever shooting them. They saved me from being killed twice. If a 6'6 man comes at you on the street with a giant butcher knife how are you going to defend yourself? I'm just saying, they earned the name "the great equalizer" for a reason. Most encounters happen within 7 yards. You have seconds to respond and imho a good DAO revolver is the best bet. Again thats me and to each their own. But I feel my personal choice of defense is my business and no one else's unless they want to personally pay for me to have 24/7 armed security for protection. I think if we look at the people who did this it would highlight the real problem. We are looking only at the symptom of their troubles. I lived among many gun toters and I can tell you that violence is not an issue. And violence is cut short because perpetrators know that their having a gun does not give them advantage over others. The power advantage of holding a gun can only be imagined if the intended does not posses the same. Only with another gun was the shooter able to be taken down. So the gun itself is not to blame. It is only a tool to be used how the wielder wishes. Often this wish is to respectfully control diseased or out of control wildlife. I have been in situations where this was a happy tool to have.
Always be ready and expect viewpoints of others who disagree with you when you stamp your food and claim the high moral ground. Be willing to accept that you may not be in the right. Or that there may not even be a right.

I am open to the idea of red flag laws (as long as they don’t get abused). Also open to special laws where young adults 18-20 need to get special training and psych evaluations before buying rifles. I am open to enhanced security at schools. I am also open to special programs to identify and treat at risk teenagers and young adults.

The issue is not of guns, but as to the laws that allow people to have them. There needs to be tougher gun laws, restrictions and mental capacity evaluations before somebody is allowed to have them.
The thing nobody seems to want to acknowledge, is that if you outlaw guns outright, it will *not* stop criminals from having them, which puts the law abiding citizen at extreme risk. It turns the citizen in to victims instead of people capable of defending themselves.
The other question nobody wants to face, is why are teachers and school staff not arming themselves? In a world where we have people losing their minds and killing children, why are we not prepared to defend them?

Obviously not entirely. Plymouth was the first one since 2018 (when nobody was killed), which was the first one since 2010, there was one in 2009 in Northern Ireland by the IRA, and that's all four this century in a country with 1/5th the population of the US. A total of 20 deaths this century.
Just counting mass shootings with 10 or more fatailities, the US has had 20 in the same time period, killing 408.

You're not going to ban knives, you're not going to ban cars. You aren't going to ban household products that can be turned into explosive. So you're not going to make people safer with gun control laws. Additionally, comparing UK statistics to US statistics isn't comparable. Even if you use per capita, which you didn't. It's kind of boring mathematics and this is purely example mathematics and I'm not suggesting these numbers are accurate at all, but if you get a nutjob who wants to hurt people in 1 in every 80 million people, statistically speaking the UK would be inclined to have 0 of them and the US would have 4 of them. If it makes it any more intuitive, you can look at it like if Amweova had 30 people and the UK had 6 people. If 1 in every 8 people do something bad, the UK would be inclined to have none, whole the US would be inclined to have some. So it isn't even as simple as per-capita.

Of the four mass shooting events in the UK, there's just one that reaches that definition. Use the UK definition of a mass shooting and the US has more than one a day, compared to one every five years or so in the UK.

I own guns and I am not going to get rid of mine. I keep two locked up and one with me at all times. If people can’t follow gun safety procedures or the place that sold him the guns did not follow the process for selling guns. That place should lose their license for selling guns. It is just me in my house and I am not going to hope me using a taser and hitting them is enough. I go to the range, have a concealed carry permit, registered with the state and have taken courses, so I don’t hurt someone. You are never going to be able to stop people from owning guns. Guns aren’t the issue , it’s the mentally ill people that are the issue , This country needs to start putting our tax dollars into these schools to have armed security and metal detectors to protect the children , every student and every teacher and every visitor needs to be checked before entering or the other option shut the schools down and just keep colleges and trade schools open and make them all have armed security and metal detectors but for the children teach them online because this shit isn’t going to end , Parents should feel safe sending their children to school and nowadays it’s not possible , Violence is something that can’t really be controlled but removing places where violence occurs can be removed.
You don´t need more shootings to happen but you need to make an environment where people feel safe. Maybe you should think about a common helfcare system because this like many other phenomen like a "Karen" sound uniquely US American to me. People buy guns because to feel secure, they don´t need to be secure but it makes you feel secure. People in other countries feel secure without happens, like Norway banned all semi-automatic weapons last year. Most European countries have stricter gun laws than the US and people still feel more secure on average. I think the solution is not to ban guns but to make feel secure.
I´ll tell you never because guns are part of American culture and you´ll probably never get to abolish or reduce them. So reduce the ability of enter the school campus. Meaning a wall or a fence around the school campus so that there are at best just two entrances to the school campus. Put a campus police at every entry so they can control every person that wishes to enter the campus that doesn´t have a student or workers ID and therefore a right to enter the campus. That sounds expensive but it´s the only way I see that would be helpful. Because giving the teachers guns that doesn´t sound helpful to me if they can´t handle them correctly and are not good at aiming they kill or injure a student.

And how exactly does the government go about collecting banned firearms from the populace? Are you proposing a military style round up of American citizens? Dont get me wrong. Lots of people have guns who shouldn't. And we live in a culture which perpetuates violence and allows for misconduct without consequence. This, rather, seems to be the core of the problem. And one which unfortunately has no simple solution.
Okay. Tomorrow they’re banned and everyone has to turn in all of their firearms. Now what? There is no clear number of firearms in possession, it’s guesstimated to be around 400,000,000, with tens of trillions of rounds of ammunition. Who is going to enforce it? We‘ve lost the war on drugs. Their is mass produced fentanyl streaming across the border in records amounts. Alcohol prohibition was a complete failure. Even vaccine mandates didn’t last. What will you do with the states, localities and individuals that refuse? Who’s going to go door to door? What if people fight back? What if national guards defy orders? How far are you willing to push this? Mass incarceration faculties? Camps?

The second amendment allows citizens to posses firearms, to protect themselves from tyranny. The first thing any tyrannical government does is disarm the populous to make it easier to control and manipulate them. If you look back on any major government lead massacre, or holocaust, the first thing they did was disarm the population. i. e Germany, Venezuela, and to go even further back England. The founding fathers had just freed themselves from tyrannical control, and included the second amendment in our constitution, in case a time like that happened again.

I dont live in america (thank god) but from what i see it the right to carry guns is so embedded in the culture there that taking that right away would actually cause a civil war for sure, school shootings happen without guns aswell too so there's no simple way to stop these from happening.
As i said there is no simple way to prevent this, people will get their guns regardles of if they are illegal or not, which is why it would be better to invest time and effort for mental healthcare instead but yeah... No ones gonna do that, it takes too much effort for people in charge of that to do it.

The problem is, the mental health clinics and psychologists are overwhelmed and it is hard to even get an appointment when you feel you need to talk to someone. Even professionals like psychologists can get burned out. If you want a job that you won't get laid off of and will have job security, being a psychologist is that job.

If guns were only sold to people that actually need them in their career such as armed forces and police, a lot of deaths past and present would have been prevented. It's not possible to remove every firearm in the US... there are too many of them. Plus, the Constitution would have to be changed, and that requires a 2/3 vote of the states, which is never going to happen. Rather than eliminate guns, let's make some of them harder to obtain, and increase security at schools, so that our children can be safe.

There was a news article about this. People owned guns for years and even had more guns. The NRA is going bankrupt. So why is this happening. It was not guns who let this person back on the street after being clearly diagnosed with a dangerous violent mental condition. Michal More did a documentary on this as well called "Bowling for Columbine" where in he searches for why the US gun deaths are double that of all the countries combined (outside of war). Outlawing guns makes as much sense as outlawing drugs. We did make drugs illegal, yet the people who want them still find a way to get them.
