Fuckem both They both destroy the environment equal if not worse than most normal cars. Look up mines for car batteries Look up how much power they drain from the electric grid Look up how much they cost to repair and notice that you can only get it repaired at your local dealer. So say goodbye your local family owned auto shops.
Hybrid or Plug-In Hybrid is the way to go at the moment (in my opinion) but ultimately the best choice would be hydrogen/fuel cell. Unfortunately we are nowhere near close to the infrastructure we need for people to go for hydrogen vehicles, and fully electric has been pushed so much and they don’t wanna go back on that
EV’s are the way to go but battery technology has not yet reached a point where it is as convenient to use as ICE’s. This will come with time and development. I would think that by 2040 we will all wonder why we didn’t move away for gas and diesel powered vehicles sooner.
What's the point? If we all had them, we'd suck up all the power we had and nothing else electrical would work for a good while. We have mag/lev technology and cars that run on water, why don't we use that shit? Wouldn't you rather drive around like The Jetsons?
Stick with gas or hybrid for now. EV’s aren’t there yet. Even if you can afford them, they are always making advances in batteries which are constantly being updated and will kill the resale value of early EV’s. Honestly though, with the energy shortage and the mass crisis’ coming, it probably won’t matter what you have unless you can get solar panels and batteries installed in your home.
@Shamalien i found old plans from WW2 time period in my grandparents house. But I'm sure you can find some online.
It can work on anything with a engine. The older the easier it is. Cars with computers make it a pain (from what I have read on-line), but I don't have that problem, because all my vehicles have carburetors or a mechanical diesel engines. Everything I own was made before 1984.
So they can run on almost any fuel without much issues
Now back to cars with computers, I have read on-line that it will work. Just have to do extra work to get it to work
There was a guy who had an electric car that crashed and the fire department and police could not save him cause the doors locked and the complete car went up into flames no way to save the guy so people should do some research on these electric cars before getting one.
I would NEVER buy an EV. Anyone who thinks that the country can put enough electricity online fast enough to keep up with the feds' goals simply does not understand the situation! I am not going to contribute to this disaster-in-the-making.
I have a Honda CR-Z hybrid. It’s really a disappointment. The city mileage isn’t any better than the ‘99 Saturn I used to have. It gets about 45 MPG on the highway,. I’d expect a car that size to get around that if it wasn’t a hybrid.
With the amount of driving I do, I could just drive my Lexus everywhere for about $1,200 a year more in gas.
I enjoy my electric bike immensely. No insurance, extremely low operating cost and excellent range. I use it to commute whenever the weather permits.
In terms of cars, they're a great idea, but we need to start making power cells and components at home where there are sensible environmental protections in place and stop relying on China for supplies.
A shift towards thorium reactors for the power grid would make it an even better idea.
I don’t mind electric or hybrid vehicles, but I don’t believe in banning gas power until we have vehicles that can perform just as well as or better than current gas vehicles, and affordable for the common person. That performance requirement also includes vehicles in various industries too, including Agriculture and Construction. I don’t think a Tesla is currently a good choice to haul a ton of Alfalfa bales on a flatbed going up a winding mountain road.
1) Electric vehicle batteries are bad for the environment. 2) We don't have the electrical capacity to power and charge all of these vehicles. Since the US is unwilling to build new nuclear plants, that means that electricity will have to be generated using fossil fuels.
We are still not ready for full electric vehicles.. the range isn't far enough and not enough charging stations and it takes too long. Hybrid is the way to go. I have one as a work van and I live it.. it get 800 miles to a tank of fuel VS my old van that was 250 miles to a tank.. and i know i will always get home.
both are too expensive and impractical. it makes no sense. the stripmining and wars that will be faught over the rarest of earth metals will be worse then the damage a gas engine would cause even if batteries werent charged by electric plants run on coal. also. dead battery disposal is quite toxic.
Both versions are good than petrol vehicles. At one point in time, gas and petrol will get over which lead us to use electric and solar vehicles in full swing. Anyway from the beginning of homo sapiens started producing items in factories, we are destroying the environment, It's not new. Yes, we should save our environment but we can't treat our earth to its fullest glory. I think electricity is good than whatever is there left in the market.
So electric vehicles are also bad for the environment but the claim that they are worse than gas powered cars is just a myth it‘s just not true. Hybrid cards are also more expensive than regular ones but I haf one myself and was very happy about both the low amount of gas I needed and the quick acceleration.
It is like everything else you might as well get used to it because it's what are future will be in ten years from now, they will figure out all the issues I think that in ten years they will have perfected the solar panels to be 90% efficient then they can make cars bodies out if solar panels so they can run only on the sun and charge while driving down the road with low sun light we would be there now if they would of invested in it years earlier humans are smart they will figure it out
Hybrids are cool, but full electric? Nah. I drive gas only too. Electricity already mostly comes from non renewable resources, and we'll run through it quicker charging cars. Plus the batteries hurt the environment more too.
Don't know about the batteries but where do you think the power comes from? Mostly coal power plants, so how is that any better your doing just as much damage from increasing the power needed from those plants.

Hybrid produces less CO2 emissions during its lifetime, see:

I'm working on something they did in WW1 and WW2.
I'm building a wood gasification system so my cars, trucks and tractors run on wood fuel
Car from WW2 running on wood gasification
How yu do dis. What model of car and does it matter?
@Shamalien i found old plans from WW2 time period in my grandparents house. But I'm sure you can find some online.

Hmm good to know, ty. Consider posting the plans

I MIGHT consider buying a hybrid.

Yea, I'm hoping their popularity will push manufacturers towards graphine batteries, which will last much longer, and have fewer disposal issues.
