She didn't understand she was supposed to promise conservative ideals would accomplish the country's goals, not actually do them and show they fail quite catastrophically. This pissed off too many people in her own party.

She probably thought she could get away with it because Trump did, but maybe didn't realize the reason Trump got away with it is because a vast and well funded far right misinformation network was fully dedicated to not telling anyone about the catastrophe he caused at least until Biden came along and they could blame him instead.

But no. Tax cuts and deregulation are THE ONLY conservative ideas. That's what she promised. That's what she did. And it ended in catastrophe as it always has.

Taxes are not conservative. "Conservativeness" only applies to world-view issues not economical ones (unless you want to preserve the taxes that you already have and do not change them, but it's not the case here).

The world view/culture wars are just what they say to get elected. When they actually get power their sole priority is tax cuts for the rich. Every time. And this works because 99% of world view/culture war issues can be resolved by conservatives simply ceasing to talk about it; they are all made up - it turns out it actually doesn't affect your life in a pny way if dudes a thousand miles away are allowed to get married or whatever. So if right wing media simply stops >trying< to make you mad about it, then you will stop being mad about it, and thus believe your life is improved because you aren't so mad all the time.

Immigration is the big example in the US. Conservatives have actively blocked all immigration reform for the last 20 years. This is because they know if the problem was ever solved they would lose a critical narrative to campaign on - because they know they can't campaign on tax cuts for the rich, which is their only actual goal..
