For those who live under a rock, a first grade student shot a teacher at their school in Virginia. The teacher was hit in the abdomen but it looks like she’s going to survive.
It's easy to make it about America or guns. The only way a 6 year old winds up in that position though, really any one single part of it, is incredibly shitty parenting. Neglect that has slid past bad into straight up criminal. A house with unsecured weapons a 6 year old can get to, not even checking if he has any of them, or is even doing day to day. Leaving them out loaded and cocked.
I have a daughter around that age, she finds it hard to pull the trigger of a BB gun, but can for a single action.22 rifle (simple crack barrel). So he wouldn't have had the strength to load it, or to pull the trigger quickly unless it was already loaded and cocked, likely with the safety off.

It's a notoriously Black neighborhood. The school is 47% Black. The "single mother" is likely to be charged for the kids crime. The woke news channels won't mention he's black because it hurts the narrative. The mother's attorney is famous for representing Allen Iverson a black basketball player who was convicted of maiming a mob 2 white women and a man with his group of friends at a bowling alley. There's a documentary about it on ESPN. Yet for some reason you put a little white kid as the splash image to your post take the heat... hmmm When Al Sharpton starts a parade in support of the school shooter what are you going to do?
Imprisonment for the kid, the parents should be fined heavily for neglecting a child or sent to prison themselves.
Yes, it's a young child, I mostly blame the parents more than anything, but actions must have consequences.
Whoever is in charge of the child should be in jail for child neglect at the very least.

There's something going on at home.
My opinion until the event that evidence proves otherwise is that the mother who legally owned the fire arm should have the book thrown at her. She claims the gun was “secured”. But I have yet to hear what is actually meant by that. It could not have been properly secured if a 6 year old was able to get it with out the knowledge of the legal owner. It is absolutely the gun owner’s responsibility to properly lock up their weapon if it is not being actively carried or used. Especially in a home with child (ren) . And even more so when said child has issues. I also think the school should get sued as it has come to light that they didn’t take credible warnings seriously or the victim pleading for help prior to the incident seriously. The parent (s) failed. The school administration failed. And it damn near cost that teacher their life. Unacceptable all the way around.
What a fucking moron, it really goes to show you how bad education is in America.
Everyone knows you put one in the face and 2 in the chest.
America is such a freak show, they just keep trying to out do each other demonstrating to the world how fucked up people can actually be.
Honestly I am slightly impressed because with the internet the bar got raised (or lowered depending on your perspective) pretty high and it does have to be acknowledged how hard it must be to keep churning out hit after hit.
It's a shame they can't maintain that level of performance with their film and music industry.
It's just a sensational human interest story. But the "gun control" crowd will blame it on the existence of guns. They never let an opportunity slip by.
The criminal and, in this case, their parents, should be punished. End of story. Nothing else to see here.
That's what you're supposed to do to criminals and irresponsible low lifes. They forfeit their rights. But you don't treat the rest of American citizens as if they are guilty until proven innocent.I don't think banning guns would ever fly down in the US. However, I think it should be much more difficult to obtain handguns, automatics, etc, Those people who are responsible gun owners shouldn't have a problem with a bit more of a rigorous screening process. It would likely decrease incidences and keep guns out of the wrong hands.
Maybe have a fine for not reporting a stolen gun as these tend to be the one's used in crimes.
I blame the parents more than anything. If you own a gun then you better make sure it’s locked up and not easily accessible to children in the house.
I also have to question the mental state of the child. I think even a 6 year old would know that guns kill people. So clearly he’s got some issues going on too and needs help. It's the parents fault for allowing a 6 year old access to a gun. Based on interviews I've heard with the parents, they are not great people and are very irresponsible. They seem to take no responsibility for their actions. I don't think it's the kid's fault because he was probably raised poorly by his parents
He deserves a severe spanking by his mom. If you do not blame him the way you blame a killer, you have to blame him the way you blame a petty theft looter.
Politics walk and talk, they don't care about anyone, it's sad that a 6-year-old shoots his teacher and nothing is supposed to be said or done, it's time that something is done.
It's ridiculous how much is wrong with that statement alone. It shouldn't be possible. I'm leaving the country as soon as I can somewhat securely.
Parents should be the ones in prison, not the kid. If a six-year-old got access to a gun and was allowed to make it to a school unchecked, clearly adults did not do anything to properly store the gun or ammo.
I don't think anything about him. But I am wondering why isn't his mother in jail at the very least. Realistically, both parents should be.
Its horrible, What kinda parent teaches thier child at 6 how to shoot a gun
Looks to be a failure of social services and the school.
His parents should be charged, and the victim hit the lottery because she will be awarded millions after she sues the school district. Glad to hear she is going to be alright.
Republicans answer to violence. More guns in the school. Can you imagine if the teacher has been armed, and another kid got a hold of it
NRA, biggest terrorist organization in the world
And people on here keep telling me kids are great. Ffs
The kid has probably had a horrific childhood, but none of this excuses his behavior. He needs to be removed from the school permanently.
No parental guidance because of the gun being available and not being taught right from wrong
I don't know the situation at home, but it should have been a lot harder for the child to obtain.
