Tesla dealerships in various cities across the US have been vandalized, with buildings and vehicles firebombed and damaged. There are also reports of individual Tesla vehicles and their owners being harassed.

Reports imply that left-wing liberals are doing this in protest against Elon Musk, Tesla CEO, and his involvement with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Note that the majority of Tesla owners (and EVs in general) are liberals, so are these attacks counterproductive?

We’re at a scary point in the country where I think people actually think DOGE is just trimming fat, and that that money will land back in our own pockets, which is very clearly NOT what is happening and not what this whole exercise is about. That’s what they’re TELLING US it’s about, of course, but don’t fall for it, and don’t fall for it if you get a four-figure check in the mail as some supposed refund. The entire thing is shady and being done with nefarious intentions. Even if you get a short-term gain, we all lose in the long run. This administration exists to make us all slaves to corporations, we’re in the middle of an oligarchic coup.

So Elon absolutely IS an enemy of the citizens of the United States, and he SHOULD be the target of ire and repercussions. But blowing stuff up is what “they” want us to do. That’s a page in their playbook, act out of line until someone can’t take it anymore and does something drastic, and then use that drastic response to demonize opposition to their scheme, even if the opposition is in the right in principle.

Same thing we see with police brutality. Act in a way that OF COURSE evokes an explosive response, and then claim that explosive response to be part of a greater overall M. O. that necessitated the initial head-cracking in the first place, and basic blame-shift to the victim (s) or the support movement behind them. It’s dirty as fuck, but unfortunately people are idiots and fall for it.

How in the world do you justify giving some certain demographic of whatever sort a hard time, or at least passively accepting it, allowing for it, or enabling it?

Some teacher in Idaho was forced to take down a sign in her classroom that says “Everyone is welcome here”, with a bunch of hands with different skin tones. Was told that that might not be everybody’s opinion. Are you fucking kidding me? It was a school district thing, not a government edict, but it’s the climate that’s being created in this country, especially in red states. That’s disgusting.

Please explain to me why that’s ok, and we should instead just be like “Welp, some people think we should be segregated, maybe even ethnically cleansed🤷‍♂️” Is that a message that should be sent to children? The kids will notice it’s gone. Why would foster this sort of social attitude? So we don’t upset ignorant white parents?

I’m not trying to wipe anyone away, we’re all supposed to be in this together, but some things are objective character shortcomings that we need to self-police in our society, because our society is worse for it if we don’t. It’s not one of those things we should just shrug our shoulders at and let slide, it affects people’s lives, directly, indirectly, and just kind contributes to a cumulative effect that makes America a worse place to live in, especially for people who DON’T look like me.

I just don’t understand how you can reasonably argue FOR a lot of these social positions the right holds without being bigoted or lacking empathy in some way. And most of the things they’re against are absolutely harmless, they just don’t like them, so they manufacture reasons to SAY they’re harmful🙄

We could cut defense contracts. We could actually stop giving tax breaks to the rich and get back a shit ton of money there.
