Mt Etna in Sicily, Italy, one of the world's most active volcanoes, violently erupted today (2-Jun-2025), sending ash high into the sky.
Have you ever seen a volcano erupt in person?
What do you think of this?

I wouldn't like to live so close to one. The nearest to me is mynydd carningli in the Preseli hills but thankfully it's long extinct (hopefully).
There's 68 volcanos in the UK, the most well known being the one Edinburgh Castle sits on.
I've been to Edinburgh Castle. The ground didn't shake. 😐
@AviatorTom Maybe you did not stomp the floor hard enough. lol. When I was there I was very soft footed.
I've been there too. It's interesting that at some point we've all occupied exactly the same space, perhaps touched the same object, say for example when walking through a particular door. Next time when you enter a tourist attraction don't ask if you're walking in the footsteps of King whatshisname ask did Poppy once tread here.
Epic! It's huge and billowing, expanding in that one shot over the small town. I've never witnessed one in person. In the classic age they saw this as a sign. The little g gods were having a hissy-fit! 😅
It's another sign the world is a powerful natural force that doesn't care for humanity all that much.
@AviatorTom
Thanks again for MHO

Pretty spectacular. It reminded me of my father telling me that when he was in Italy during WW2 he saw Mt. Edna erupting.
I hadn't heard about it. Thanks for educating me.
That could ruin your whole day...
I think people should evacuate.
I never saw
