I think Trump uses insults as a way to pressure other countries and show his supporters that he isn't afraid to challenge foreign leaders. But sometimes it seems personal rather than strategic. He called Spain a loser after disagreements over the Iran war, and his recent attack on Norway was tied to his frustration over not receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. 🇳🇴

What I find troubling is that there's a difference between criticizing a country's government and insulting an entire nation. Trump likes to insult other countries and their leaders because he thinks it gives him the upper hand in negotiations, and he fancies himself a "brilliant negotiator." The opposite is often actually true. When he insults other countries and insults their leaders, I believe it's taken personally. Doing this kind of thing will just make any subsequent negotiations extremely difficult, if not impossible. Nobody wants to give in to a bully.

He's a confused and grumpy old man who doesn't know what he's doing or why he's doing it. Not really sure the insults and threats are accomplishing what he originally intended when he decided to run for office but it's driving countries to China because right now the Chinese government is a lot nicer and easier to deal with than the American government. The unintended consequence is its creating a massive power shift away from the US.

Donald Trump has no social judgment or sense of diplomacy at all, and he enjoys baiting other people and making them angry. He enjoys doing that to whole countries, actually. He is always trying to start a fight with people.
