I'm 40. Back in the day, kissing a girl's hand (that one has romantic intentions on) worked well for me. Is it still a good move or outdated? Does it have any significance/special meaning to someone in their mid 20's?

Update: Is it better to kiss the hand before the lips, or kiss the lips before the hand? Forgot to mention that the first time (that I haven't kissed her on the lips yet).    7 months ago

I still think kissing the hand is romantic! I think you should kiss her hand, then check out her reaction. If the reaction is good. Then go for the lips. If the reaction is bad. Then leave it at that and try the lips the next time.

Sometimes kissing the hand is better than the lips because kissing the lips could be classed as a sexual suggestion, whilst kissing the hand is very romantic and gentlemanly. I have had three boyfriends so far, this is what happened.

1st boyfriend= kiss on hand, kiss face, kiss lips (very romantic)
2nd boyfriend= kiss hands and licked fingers (I don't know why?! ), kiss face, kiss lips (a bit weirded out by this dude)
3rd boyfriend= kiss face, kiss lips, kiss hands (still with him)

I think it's still romantic! I don't think romance can change much and I would love it if a guy would be so sweet. And hey I'm 17 so I don't think it's out of style. Definitely kiss the hand first

Kissing on the hand is still very romantic and sweet. I say still do it, since likely most women are not used to it and would be pleasantly surprised by it.

As for your update. I would say kiss the lips and then the hand. You can have a great kiss on the lips and then continue to show her how much to you like her by a giving her a sweet kiss on the hand. Actually I don't think it matters either way, because both are great, so take your pick.

I think it is very sweet that you are still old fashioned and I think girls will appreciate this quality in you. Good luck.

I don't think its out dated, but okay, especially if you don't make too big a deal of it. Just do it in a very relaxed, and simple way without making a fuss. Definitely a nice thing to do, though I don't think it is something I would overly miss if it didn't happen either.
Good luck!

I think the hand-kiss is very sweet. I disagree with one answerer though. I don't think you should immediately go for the lips after the hand-kiss. Wait until the next date, at least.

The purpose of the hand-kiss is to show modesty in your affection. Going after the lip kiss the same day as the hand-kiss, seems overly eager. For me, it would negate the innocence of the hand-kiss. Good luck you charmer you! :)

Question Asker Should I let her kiss me if she tries after I kiss her hand or make her wait, build the tension? - 7 months ago
Answerer Absolutely. But building the tension is good too. You could meet in the middle and make the kiss shorter than either of you would like. That way she doesn't feel rejected by turning her down completely. We don't want that now, do we? :-) - 7 months ago

LOVE the hand-kiss. It's such a gentlemanly, chivalrous sort of thing. Love it, love it, love it. There was a guy in my dance class last year who always kissed my hand after we danced, and I could have melted every time.

Not going to lie, from time to time, when I can tell my girlfriend doesn't want a kiss, like if we are around friends or just in public, I kiss her hand.
gonna say not out dated.

I can honestly say that I've had success with it in the past.

It isn't ALWAYS ideal to kiss the hand, sometimes it is better to not do anything at all, rather than risk it. I can't say that you shouldn't, but once. Funny story actually. I went out of my way to try it with this girl, and it became really awkward, simply because it wasn't easy to get a hold of her hand and get it to my mouth (which sounds pretty bad, looking at it again. ).

From a modern guy, I've had success

Wow, I'm at a loss for words after all these girls' reactions. And here I thought that you were being all "Brady Bunch. " Hmmmm. Maybe I'll try kissing the hand next time.
