When two people go on a date, usually they agree to it because they want it to turn into something more, but in order for that to happen they have to get to know each other first. That is pretty much a date. Usually two people on a date have some sort of attraction to each other. If you're not attracted, or you are attracted but trying to get to know someone on a less serious level, then that is more hanging out.

Well if she just likes you as a friend and has no romantic feelings, then it's just hanging out with a friend. You're still getting to know each other though.

Depends. Going on a date can be as simple as "You seem cool can I take you to dinner" to something a bit deeper like "I have liked you for a very long time and I would really love to take you out sometime" That is a date. You could also be DATING which means you are seeing someone and you also have the option to converse with and be interested in others. Or you could be dating just one person. It always depends

You know what? I hate that word! It has so many connotations and implications - just the word "date" adds expectations and pressure to a situation.

To me, it means what the previous poster said: an interview for boy/girlfriend position. So, of course, on an interview, you want to put your best foot forward. Personally, I prefer meeting men in other ways (i. E. At an activity that I like, at the book store, etc) because it takes the pressure off and you can really get to know the person.

My understanding of going on a date is for you to get to know the other person. It is when you spend time with her to see if you will get along well. It is like going to an interview if you are looking for a job ( for a boyfriend position). This maybe having dinner, a movie, coffee, strolling, malling or doing anything with your partner. This is kinda different from exclusively dating... for me it means that you are almost going steady and decided not to date anybody else and this is where romance comes in.

Advice: How To Make The First Move
Does it ever annoy you that you're single?
random-ren asked 20 days ago

Yes, most of the time! I really wish I had a boyfriend/girlfriend!

A little, because I feel left out.

Not really...

Nope! I have too much fun being single!

What pickup lines do you use to start a conversation with someone you are attracted to?
I don't use any lines.. leave those to the cheese balls! I usually start by making a joke, complimenting a part of their outfit, or ask if they are having a good time or like the place.. if they are interested in conversation I will have no trouble making her laugh!

How do they typically respond?
If they don't respond positively or have that look on their face like there is somewhere else they need to be, I drop conversation and move on... otherwise my smile, laugh, and constant eye contact usually causes them to be interested in getting my number or hanging out for a while longer!

Do I have the right approach?
