When is it too early or too late to ask someone on a date?

I'm in love with a girl in my class. Today I talked to her for the first time. While we talked she said that she is feeling cold, moved her stuff and sat right beside me.

Could this mean something else beside that she was cold?

I am thinking about asking her out but I don't know when and how? I don't want it to be too late or too early since I just met her.
