I told my crush how I feel--did I do the right thing?

Question

So I finally worked up the courage. I've liked him since I met him about a year ago, but I have been struggling with these feelings a lot. I always got a vibe from him too, but I also always got the vibe that he didn't realize I liked him enough for him to make a move. I had to email him (I know, I know), because I wanted to make sure I said it as perfectly as I could, and I just get too nervous around him to say it to his face. I told him I didn't expect a reply because I wasn't trying to put pressure on him, but that I needed to get it off my chest because it's been weighing on me. I am not going to expect a reply, just because I would rather not get my hopes up unnecessarily; I've already done that with him and it hurts like hell. I think it was the right move, but now I'm starting to question myself. Did I do the right thing?

Definitely gotta give you major props for having the guts to come out and tell your crush straight on that you like him.  Playing games or waiting for the guy to make the first move gets very frustrating, especially because guys have all the same problems and insecurities (i.e.- fear of rejection, not wanting to lose a friend, not wanting to look silly, etc) but the bottom line is you will never know if you don't try since if you put nothing out there you will get nothing in return.  I've always regretted not telling someone I liked them since I'll never know what could have been, but I've never regretted telling someone, even if they rejected me, cause at least I tried and now I know.

the way you sound .. it feels tht you are more guilty of saying your feelings. I guess you should first realise what you really wanted to do ! and if this is what you wanted than just say to yourself tht this is an end which I chose and not what others chose for you ! After all you are the one who controls your life not  the other person.

I think you definitely did the right thing telling him, and I completely understand why you gave him the option to not reply... but that must be super frustrating for you, which sucks! And unfortunately you can't encourage him to tell you now, because that'd be pretty unfair. But I think from a point of view of your personal feelings, you couldn't have done a better thing. Now, I think you need to focus on getting an answer, maybe through a friend, about whether he likes you or not. Just so you know, and so it doesn't bug you.

I did but I told my crush in person and I am not the person to say my feelings. You did the good thing. I'm still struggling to find a good thing at telling him.

There is no right or wrong. There is only having to do what you had to do. And you know what? You should treat yourself for having worked up the courage to do it. The ball's in his court now so just relax and try to move on with your life as much as possible. You'll eventually get a response from him, one way or the other, and I hope that it's a satisfying one. ;)

i think it is great that you sent him some form of communication saying what you think.  I recently did something similar and if you go answer my last question on it that would be great but I think in your case that you will feel good no matter  happens cause you know to a point.  also with girls I think your chances of being shot down are slim because guys are more open to giving chances to interested women...just be patient and in a few days I'm sure it will clear up

I think you made the right choice, its better to know then to constantly wonder if he's interested.  Its one of those things that if you just left it as it is, you would probably regret not ever letting him know, at least I would.  You definitely should be proud for mustering up the courage to do it, I'm personally trying to get the courage to let the girl I'm interested in know that I like her also but I'm not quite there yet.
