Where do I stand?

Most of my girlfriends say I'm pretty/cute/nice/sincere, whatever... generally desirable qualities for the most part. Yet I'm 19 and I've never even been on a real date. I don't feel comfortable with random hook-ups so I am looking for a relationship, or at least a real connection, but a lot of guys (especially any that I'm interested in) seem to dismiss me. Some of my friends jokingly say that I'm "white-washed", which isn't offensive and kind of true in my case. Sometimes it feels like that is something that contributes to the dismissals--or that I don't really belong in the usual categories of what guys are looking for.

I know I can be a little oblivious to guys flirting with me; on the other hand I can come off as a little overly flirty when really I'm just really kind of bubbly. A lot of people have referred to me as "intense" though... I'm kind of all over the place. I am, however, super involved in sports, leadership, and community projects and I probably show different sides of myself to different people.

Advice? Opinions? Sure, single is being fun, but it's starting to get a little old...
