Leaving Job/Crush in 2 Days - How to Tell Him I Like Him Before I Go?

Question

I temped at this job for a few months.  My assignment ends in 2 days.  I really like this guy at work. I'll never see him again.  There is no fraternizing at this company; no one talks. It's all work.  One of those big companies that's laying people off, everyone walks around on edge - there's no socializing opportunity whatsoever.  People don't say more than hello.  He seems to be doing all the body language things and giving out every non-verbal cue that he is interested. But there is just no way if he WERE interested, for him to let me know.  How do I let him know before I go?  Do I?  I feel that there is mutual potential, but at the same time he won't make a move; it must come from me.  Should I tell him I am interested, and if so how?  Speaking seems to be out.  Etiquette:  Note?  E-mail? Anything?  Someone help!  Please.  Do not want to seem weird or pushy.  Shy.  Time is Running Out :o(

Well, there isn't a lot I can say here, you already have some pretty good answers. Definitely leave a note, that would do just fine. Just have something small written on it, nothing big. Just say something small like "wanted to give you this =)", "here's where you can find me!" (wink, wink) "I'd like to hang out with you sometime", or the great answers the others have given. Whatever floats your cheerios. Just be sure to leave a number. That's a wonderful way to do it. It takes the pressure off of you and puts the ball in his court. If he's interested, he'll act on it. If not then he won't and you've done all you can so don't worry about it and move on. Despite thinking that the odds are against you, they're actually pretty good. You don't have any pressure on you at all. Hope it works, good luck!

Perfect timing!

I was in a similar situation once, and you're in a great position!

Simply ask him out. I suggest face-to-face, but if that's not an option, do an email.

Be honest with him, but not too over the top. Something like:

"I'm leaving in two days, and I've wanted to talk to you for while, and I'd kick myself if I didn't ask you out for a drink before I leave." Suggest a time and place where you could meet for a drink after work, or a place for lunch or whatever.

If he's interested, he'll jump at the chance.

If he's not interested, you don't have to worry about seeing him and feeling embarrassed for more than a few days.

Hey, I have had several friends in this delimma and have seen both positive results and rejection occur in different cases.  Based on what I have seen, I recommend that you don't tell him while you are working there.  You both have had reservations about letting the other know, so take this thing completely out of the work place.  You should resist the urge to say something during your last two days and wait.  Make sure you have his number and email address and when you start at your new job, send him an email telling him about your job and ask him out to lunch.  This method will allow you to find out if he likes you and you will both be free to express yourselves outside of the office environment. Hope this helps.=)

Yes. Leave a note. Write something like, "You caught my eye", then you're name and number. Or, "This place is boring" then name and number. Don't mention anything to him about you leaving on the note, that may sound desperate, and he'll know when you're gone. But write what you feel like writing, I suggest just keeping it as short as possible though. Just my suggestion, (I would love to get a note with your name and number on it). This also is not weird or pushy at all. If he calls, it's on. If he doesn't, then it's his loss.

You also have NOTHING TO LOSE here. If you'd like to approach him and chat, I'd go for it. What are they going to do? Fire you? You'll be done in two days anyway.
