Do you think it is right to have a crush on your cousin?

Question

Okay, I admit I got a crush on my cousin. But he is soo cute. And awesome. And I love his voice (he's hobby is singing)! And we have so much in common. Well I am not telling him I have a crush on him. Just going to keep being friends (and cousins) with him cause that is the best kind of relationship to me.

But do you think it is right to have a crush on your cousin? Tell me the truth people. Would you or did you ever have a crush on your cousin?

By the way, I found out he was my cousin long after I started crushing on him. And he isn't exactly a direct cousin meaning he isn't my mom's sister's son. He is my mom's uncle from her mom's side daughter's cousin. Or in shorter words, my mom's mom's brother's daughter's son. Fine that wasn't short, but you get the point. Now please help me!

Im going to give you an answer in hope that you can answer me back. For me its natural. If boy crush with their moms and girls with their dads at a point in life then why not cousins. Some poeple even approve of first cousins but you don't worry about it cause he isn't even close. Now. I'm basicly in the same situation but as the guy the girl has a crush on. My distant cousin(Like my father's cousin's halfbrother's duagther or something) had a crush on me since like she was little and I identified it so I played along but kept my distance. So anyway we are older now and our relationship in terms of how we treat each other has not change, if anything we are closer than ever. I think she hasn't really gotten over the crush she had. She has been talking to me about relatioships a lot lately and stuff so me being a man I get mixed up with you girls and not sure how you work but I'm not stupid and there are somethings that could be considered the infamus female hints. So basicly I wanna know your point in view. Like, what do you think about the situation your in? Would you give it a chance if the situationb presented itself? Could you posibly and would you set aside the cousin image? What would you do if he approuched you? I'm curious becuase I don't know how I feel about the situation and I adore my cousin. So to be honest I'm a little confused and worried. Would you consult your opinion with me?

I think it's perfectly normal to have a crush on your cousin. I have a crush on my cousin (fairly sure she's my 1st cousin) and I do wonder what it would be like to be together but because it's a taboo subject I doubt I'll make anything of it unless she comes to me first, which would mean she also has feelings for me.

there's a map you can look up that shows places it's not aloud to marry your first cousin and surprisingly it's only around half of the US states and like 2 other places World wide who don't let it happen. even Canada and most/all of Brittan allow it. it's just such a taboo subject in the western world that it is a very low % where it actually happens.

He's your second cousin. Okay, considering you didn't know he was your cousin first, I think it is perfectly natural to crush on him. I mean, I had a distant cousin from alaska that when I was younger I used to crush on.

You don't really view him as family when it is that distant. Seems like you have it figured out what you're going to do, so just relax and be happy you get to spend time with an amazing guy and don't have to stop because he's family. (and also means you have some awesomeness in your blood as well). I mean, even legally and genetically you guys are far enough apart that if you WERE in a relationship there is no issue. Just akwardness at family reunions.

I used to have a crush on my cousin, but of course I was like 9 and he was like 15, at the time. I certainly don't think you should act on it or develop the relationship into anything more then friends.. frankly, I'm not sure if that's legal in all the states.

Long story short, I think, although it's a bit wierd, now that you know he is your cousin, it's normal to have crushes on any boy, but now that you know he is part of the fam, perhaps you should refrain from indulging in these thoughts.

I can see how it would be hard to get over it, especially since you found out he was your cousin AFTER you started liking him. But I think you should really try to get over him because that's a little weird.  But it's ok to think your cousin is cute and cool. I think my sister is pretty but I don't have a huge crush on her, for many reasons haha.

You can't help your feelings so it seriously isn't your fault- especially since you only found out he was your cousin after you had developed a crush on him.

You'd be surprised at how many people develop sexual feelings towards other family members (siblings even!). It's completely natural, nothing to be ashamed of. Incest is wrong, yes, so I'd advise you not to pursue your feelings unless you feel really really compelled to.

At the end of the day, it is your life, your decision. I don't think your feelings are 'wrong' at all.

I had a crush on two of my cousins haha, one is  4 years older than me and one is 6 years  older than me. I still think they're good looking, but I'm not crushing anymore. What was said before, you definitely can't help your feelings towards anyone. And with how you put it, sounds like he's your like, what 3rd or 4th cousin?

I would say I've thought one of my cousins was cute too, but that's as far as it goes for me. I prefer to date outside of my family, that's just my personal opinion. It's alright if you've a crush on the guy, it's just dating would be, well it's up to you really. have you talked about it with your parents and stuff? mine would think it's weird lol. it's a very personal question and you'll have to decide on it yourself
