I first met the guy that I am interested in about a year ago through friends . At the time I was very overweight, but I spent the last year getting in shape and I have lost about 75 pounds .

I was wondering how important first impressions are to guys . Does it matter that I used to be fat or does it only matter how I look now ?

I think it's pretty hot that you cared enough about yourself to make a change and determined/committed to it. You're an inspiration to many people out there. Keep up the good work and congratulations!

I think the most important part isn't how you used to look, or even how you look now. It's that you recognized something you wanted to change in your life, and you worked extremely hard to get that result. To me, that's way more attractive and telling than the fact that you used to be fat or that now you're not. Hard work, assertiveness, and caring about how you look and feel is so attractive.

First off, congratulations ! That is awesome . I would say that guys don't care how you used to look . They care about how you look now, and how you will look in the future . As long as you're comfortable with yourself, and not some anorexic supermodel who will always be self conscious then you're good ! But I think that it shows a lot that you lost the weight and want to take care of your body !

What matters most is the positive improvement you've made

I suspect the guy won't even realize your the same girl .

While your at it, revamp everything - hair/clothes/makeup - your all around general fashion, show off what you've worked so hard for

First impressions do matter to a point - this may sound awful, but if it was me, and I did remember you, I might dismiss your improved image by thinking, if she was heavy once, she could be again - but as I was saying, I doubt the guy even remembers you, unless you've made a point of making him .

Well I would hope to some degree he didn't mind your weight before . I know my girlfriend always talks about how fat she is . And I don't see it that way . But in my opinion the way you look now matters he shouldn't be able to deny how hot you look to turn you away .

Not to come off as a jerk, but does the weight you lost still show, now that you lost weight ? If not and you just look like you were always that size, I don't think he will care that you used to be bigger .

I know girls that used to be not as attractive in high school as they are now . And no one seems to care they didn't used to be hot they just worry about the now .

I don't think it does . The fact that you have lost all that weight shows him that you are dedicated and committed to achieving your goals . If he is a decent guy, then he will see this quality and give you a chance .
Also, it does not matter about appearance . It is the personality that matter and hopefully he can see this; plus, if weight is an issue, then he should the person that you are now, not the person that you were - in terms of weight .

If it's a FIRST IMPRESSION then he won't even KNOW you used to be fat unless you tell him or have excess loose skin hanging all over the place from the weight loss. I too about 70lbs and guys don't care. In fact, since losing it, all I get are cat calls, stares, whistles and wow you're hot....so don't worry and enjoy it, sweetie. You're life's about to change in that sort of good way. That is...if you don't have icky loose skin (and are actually thin and not still chubby to some degree and know how to dress/do your hair and make up. It's not just the weight, is looking good, being pretty.

Also, congrats on the loss. I know how HARD it is but YOU DID IT!!! yay for you :)

First off, this guy should like you for your personality . Relationships have got to be made of sterner stuff than looks if they are going to last . Looks are fleeting . If you lost weight for yourself, that's amazing . But don't do it for the wrong reasons . It's so much more important that you have a good self image than it is to attract a guy that didn't give you a second thought when he met you the first time .

Well I am not a guy but I think first impressions are important . But since you lost a whole lot for weight, the guy(s) will be eve more attracted to you . They will might even respect you for knowing you were overweight and wanting to do something about it . I know I respect you for wanting to be healthier . And even if all the guys can think about is how you USED to look, they aren't worth it anyway . They should like you for how you are, fat or skinny . You can find someone who didn't know how you used to look if you feel self conscious being around the guys you knew before .
