A first date is NOT a job interview or a public speech, but it might as well be. First date jitters are common, but do not let the butterflies fool you into saying something you shouldn’t. Here is our list of things you should never say on a first date..
1. Reminisce About Your Ex
If you are not over your ex, maybe you should not be on a first date with someone new! Bringing your ex up is not the best impression and is a BIG turn off.
2. Say Something Ignorant or Offensive
Be knowledgeable about feminism, racism, religion, current events, and politics before you say something ignorant or offensive. Religion and politics might be heavy topics for a first date. Take someone to dinner before you debate!
3. Nitpick
Do not, I repeat do not pull out your magnifying glass and criticize every single part of your date. You can bet your bottom that you will not make it to dessert.
4. Brag About Another Date or Conquest
No one wants to hear that they are just another player on your roster, so save the “locker room talk” for your friends.
5. Why Are You Still Single?
“Why are you still single?” is just another way of saying “what is wrong with you?” No one wants to play defense and sound like a broken record by saying, “I have not met the one or the right person yet.”
6. Money
Asking “how much money you make?” is not just rude, but a turn off. You are not looking for a sugar daddy or suga momma, you are looking for relationship material. You do not need to give the impression that you are a gold digger.
7. Continuing the Date at Someone’s House
Ending the first date at someone’s house gives the wrong message if you are looking for a steady relationship. Instead it implies you are just looking for a hook up and you might get stuck as just his or her booty call.

It is the first date, no need to go for the third degree. Asking how many girls/guys your date has slept with or dated is none of your business on the first date.
9. Puppy Love
You are on a date to get to know each other NOT talk about your dogs or cats. Only rave about your pets if you know for a fact that you share the mutual obsession.
10. XXX
No need to share that you have a porn addiction on your first date. It is understandable that you had to take care of business while you were single, but do not scare your date off with that R-rated content.
