What do you think about ombre hair?

I was thinking about doing ombre on my hair, but I'm not really sure... I have dark brown straight hair, and I have never died it, so I'm a little bit worried about ruinning my hair.

What do you guys think? Would it look good on me and should I do it? And I feel like it looks a lot better on curly hair...

  • you should definitely do it! just make sure you know which colors you want to do. I would say keep it brown and get the bottom colored caramel or a really dark blond. you don't want to go too extreme. But since you have never colored your hair before, your hair might not take the color so well, it might have to sit on your hair for quite a while. but definitely get it done professionally, since it isn't like your just coloring your whole head and boxed color is really hard on your hair. hope this helps:)

  • I think your hair is great honestly but I think you could pull off the two tone thing...again though I prefer your hair as is

  • I'm not really a fan of two-tone hair color. I think hair should be one uniform color.

  • I think that it works on some girls. Try it and rock it. It could be the best thing in the world or the worst. It doesn't matter because it will go away in time. Then you can choose to redo it or keep natural :)

  • I like streaks in the hair it gives it some variety and texture but I don't get this dying the ends of it to make it look like dyed hair that grew out. it really looks stupid and borderline tacky like something a stripper or hooker would do.

    • I was trying to explain how it looked but couldn't find the right words... this description is spot on though! It is very much stripper or p*rnstar like imo

  • Personally I wouldn't ombre my hair because its not my style. But I love it on other people. I think it would look good on you and you should try it if you want too!

  • I think it looks odd and weird... darker on top and lighter on the bottom? Don't touch your hair color! God made it perfect, that dye is gonna ruin it.

  • I don't like ombre hair. It's a style that is purposefully made to look like you dyed your hair a long time ago and got too lazy to either dye it back or keep up the roots. I don't see the appeal, honestly, though it doesn't look too bad if the color change is subtle.

  • I like the way ombre hair looks and was actually thinking of doing that to my own hair...possibly. It looks really cool on wavy/curly hair but if done the right way with the right colors it could still look just as amazing on straight hair. And if all else fails and you do it and don't like it, you can always grow your hair out or chop it off. Best of luck!

  • It kind or reminds me of when blondes's brown roots start to show.

  • I really like it but my hair is straight too and I don't think it looks good on straight hair really. Also it looks better if your hair is light brown blended into blond. Dark hair with blond at the end, especially if it's straight is a bit too much of a contrast I think.

    • I think it would suit you. Did you dye your hair before and how much did it damage your hair?

    • yeah but like at home, it didn't ruin it, like it didn't look damaged. but my sister says that it makes your hair like break in some parts. like if one hair has like a dot in the middle or somewhere and you pull the part that's not attached to your head it breaks easily. I don't know how to explain it another way hahah

  • I personally love ombré hair - I've been dyeing my hair for years. the older I get the busy my schedule. ombré hair is by far the least maintenance hair. you don't have to deal with the monthly or bi-weekly touch up etc.

  • Ombre hair always looks to me like the person has just let their roots grow in, or the bottom is just really sunbleached and old. I don't think it looks very clean or sophisticated.

  • I hate ombre hair. I looks like when someone is a bottle blond and decides she's gonna let it grow out and yea not cute. I'd suggest, if you wanted some color but not crazy like, some peekaboo highlights

  • I think the opposite...I only like it on straight hair. Do it if you like it. Nothing is permanent. If you don't like it, you can change it. No worries. Try it.

    • The only thing that I am worried about is ruinning my hair with dye...

    • Dye doesn't ruin hair, in fact, it makes your hair feel so nice. It really only gets "ruined" if you bleach it & over process it. Have it done professionally first, then you could do it yourself after that, if you watch carefully. Someone just came out with a kit for this. Do what I do, when I see someone with a great style, I ask where they get it done & by whom. Then I go there. Why not?

  • it's okay. subtle hombre can be nice and it is much less annoying than dealing with roots but ihave also seen it look really bad. it looks fine on wavy or straight hair imo.
