Why would my crush randomly find an excuse to touch my hand and hold onto it for a few seconds?

So, he works as a security guard at my local recruitment centre/ agency, he's seen me come in over 10 months now and every time I do, I always catch him checking me out and he doesn't break eye contact (well a few times he has got embarrassed and looked away!).

To get into the building you have to show your appointment card, the security guard at the door already saw it and let me in, however when I was about to go up the stairs, my crush stopped me and asked to see my card, when I give it to him, he ended up touching why hand and holding my thumb and resting his hand on mine (really close, I kid you not lol!) far longer than he needed to cos he was looking at the card with a blank expression! I get the feeling he was trying to see what my name was but it was on the other side and people were looking :s.

Why would he do that? He sometimes even gives me the cold shoulder or walks away when he sees me coming so as to avoid me bumping into him, walking by or asking him any questions like where I'm supposed to go to see my adviser etc.

He clearly likes you back... why else would he do that hahaha. I looked at the question title and kinda just facepalmed cause it was so obvious, and even the way you wrote the question title out shows you probably already knew the answer :P. Anyway, for advice, go introduce yourself to him. He's obviously too nervous to do it himself, and maybe feels that he shouldn't be flirting with anyone at his workplace (even if he's just the guard). So do it for him - introduce yourself and get him to introduce himself, and show him that you like him back so that he gets a bit more confidence and might move things along more, or if you don't care about gender roles, ask him out yourself.

I spoke to a friend about this and she said the same thing as you but even if he did ask for my number, he wouldn't lose his job right?...cos either way if I give it or if he asks for it, as long as we're both OK about it, no one needs say anything about it...same difference to me. I don't know lol x

Exactly, yeah. Shouldn't be a big deal unless you know of a strict no-workplace-dating policy in this agency.

- Probably doesn't know what to say when he's face to face with you

I say, next time you go in, write your number on a little piece of paper and give it to him. If he calls/texts, you're in!

Alot of guys (I was this way at one time) have an easier time talking/texting over the phone to learn more about a person before they feel 100% comfortable to be open with her when they are face to face.

I always thought guys found it easy to talk to girls and approach them. I am worried that if I give him my name and number,that he will laugh at me and think I am desparate:( and also I am not even sure he lieks me, what if I've got it wrong?

If a girl gave me her number the last thing I would do is laugh. If I didn't like her I wouldn't embarrass her in front of everyone. I'd tell her that I'll text her later and talk to her about it.

If I did like her, I'd embarrass her in front of everyone and start dancing around like a kid in a candy store! haha

My comment is 1 year late, but I think there is still some value in it:

For future reference, you have to risk getting laughed at to get the guy that you want. Its the same struggle that men have to face. The plus side is that men dont laugh at women who approach. At WORSE, they will just ignore your approach, but usually they will put you down nicely. Men has it worse because there are plenty of women who actually don't mind making fun of a man who approaches them. Lol I saw a group of young college girls make fun of a young man who simply told them that he thought that they were beautiful and wished them a good night. I felt so bad for the guy.
