If im sitting on his lap, its because its intentional that i want him to get hard, so if we're making out or having sex. But sometimes if I'm not in the mood, I will think that he is just after sex and want me for my body so he gets a boner. But most of the time I feel flattered and it makes me confident.

She is your girlfriend, so she should be okay with this, if not, move on, because she may not want you physically in the future.

Hopefully she understands that guys can get boners even when they are not after sex, especially during puberty. She should be somewhere from understanding to flattered to aroused. Some girls are grossed out by it for some reason which doesn't make sense to me at all.

I'd just ask her. Ask her how she would react if you got a boner while she was on your lap. Make sure she understands that it's not something you have control over and isn't a reflection of your true thoughts and feelings. If she said "ew that's gross," I'd call her out on it because honestly, she dumb.
