Is that what girls really like?
Is David Duchovny's character in Californication the so called confident guy that women always talk about?
Is that what girls really like?
He's hilarious and indifferent to whether people like him or not. Two things that are highly attractive no matter how big of an asshole you are. Granted it's a show, there's little doubt that such an attitude is attractive. Women might say he's a jerk, he's an asshole, he's depraved and shallow, but I know people like him in real life and for as much as women claim to hate them, you see them drawn in all the time.
Women know what they should want: The nice guy who provides, does courteous things, cares about how they feel, etc. etc. and they will say that's what they want because they know that's what they should want. The problem though is they often don't. They often end up wanting the funny guy indifferent to others opinion of them. The guy that isn't afraid to do what he wants, when he wants to do it. He's unpredictable, fun, exciting, among other things. That's what many women really want at a fundamental level. Whether he's nice and caring or not is an after-thought.
Sure there's always exceptions. Not all women are hypocritical like that. I'm simply talking majorities here. Many of the women that would fight such a statement like that tooth and nail, more often than not, they're the ones that say one thing but fall for another. I'm not saying they're bad people for it, because they're not. They probably genuinely do want to fall for the nice, courteous, generous, caring guy that would "treat them right". When the guy comes along though, most of them don't. That's based on objective observations. Many women know what they should want, know what they deserve to have, yet reality often ends up playing out completely different.
totally agree
yep, this guy knows what he's talking about. "bad boys" or people who don't try to fit in society like approval sluts win the respect of women for that reason alone, they aren't trying to please the world by living by what theyre told to believe. They live for what THEY believe in instead, and hank moody is a good example of someone who does that.

Scientists have proven women are attracted to emotionally unstable men with real psychological problems
The only two times I've ever hooked up with girls was when I was drunk and acting like a complete douchebag.
All the times I was being myself, the girls told me I was too different or too nice. These weren't club bitches either, they were normal girls.
Women prefer to have casual sex with these sorts of men regardless of whether you'll admit it to yourself or not.
First of all it's a TV show, not representative of what happens in real life. Women don't drop their panties for a guy who just looks their way in the produce department and hop into bed within the hour with them. It just doesn't happen no matter how much confidence or douchebaginess a guy might have. So that's point 1, it's not reality.
Point 2 is, there IS a certain level of attractiveness about him because he is so confident. His behavior though, is really offputting and would be a turn off to me, personally. Meaning he is very inconsiderate, a narcissist, outright childish at times, and overall just very juvenile. (But he's supposed to be- that's his character!!) Now if you could combine his confidence with a more mature but still yet fun attitude you'd have a great guy there. So hopefully you guys that are reading this can extract his good points (his level of confidence) from his bad (childish, rude behavior).

Yes but he is a bit vague and a lot of girls wouldn't like that.
He definitely is, but I don't think it's accurate of how much action he gets. lol
He is acting out a script written by men...
Think..
Ehhhh finally speaks some sense into this conversation. It is a script- it is acting- this isn't a documentary about what happens in real life. Women do not approach strangers and immediately hop into bed with them like they do in "Hank Moodyville". Moms at play centers don't approach bald pasty fathers and invite them into the bathroom for a BJ. I could go on and on about many scenarios that are far-fetched. It just doesn't happen. It's TV people, with a script clearly written by men. Entertaining, yes, but representative of the real world? Not at all.
No. He's pretty disgusting in that show.
but all the girls he flirts with fall for him.
Hahaha
It's a show...not reality.
Like Opinion Owner stated, it's a show, not reality. Ugly guy, you are wrong. The same things that happen in that show do not happen in reality. If you think women meet up with strangers in the grocery store (skater girl) then 30 minutes later fall into bed with them, or that moms at kids play approach strange bald men and ask them into the bathroom for a BJ then you are sadly mistaken. Sorry hun but you need to get out more in the real world.
he is the retarded guy I always talk about...
