The way I understand it is this: The girl next door is the closest thing to a perfect woman a man can want. She's hot, healthy, friendly, intelligent, nonsmoker and the like. She's there everyday and a man wants her more than anything else in the world next to Superbowl tickets(Yay!). She is the kind of woman you can bring home to the parents, the later on get freaky in the sheets when it's time to go back to your own crib. A man eagerly looks at her door or through her window to admire her(pervert!) then dreams of how to get a date with her other than threatening her with a gun to her head(whacko!). A man can smell what foods she has in the house(it's not delivery, it's DiGiorno) and wishes she would cook for him forever, while trying to impress her with his own cooking skills(usually fails every time). ANY man who's with her for any reason is a target for destruction through his 10X-power scope mounted on his Winchester .300MAG rifle(jealousy!). In summary, the girl next door is what a man wants forever...that or the perfect night for sex(not always typical). Actually, a sexual desire goes far deeper than that for a girl next door, she is the ultimate keeper.
Books and movies by the hundreds have been made about the girl next door. Unfortunately, almost all of them have that Disney happy ending when reality dictates that the man misses out on her because she already has a man or he's not her type and rejects him most misreably(sad). Every man has visions of the girl next door and will do the must unspeakable graphic sick ass sh*t for her. Men go crazy over women like this and sometimes creeps a woman out even though she is fully aware of what is happening unless she is a total ditz. I don't know if women have any guy-next-door types but for men, we have that kind of women all the time. College is the most common place for it because they say the best chances of finding a marriage partner is in college.
That's what they mean about the girl next door. It involves both looks and personality. Be thankful someone calls you the girl next door, it's probably the ultimate compliment a man can give to a woman. Men would do some desperate, determined deeds to be the guy next door for a woman, yes we would.
