"Be Your Biggest Cheerleader" - Jad T Jones

As a background, I've been one of the worst in terms of being someone who puts himself down and indulges in negative self-talk. I've thought and spoken so many horrible and self-esteem destroying things about myself, even subconsciously and this may partly explain why I'm in therapy currently.

In this myTake, instead of rambling on and on a lot, I want to share with you folks a video from Jad T Jones. He's a very reputable, motivating, and inspirational man and full of integrity. I've been a fan of his channel on YouTube. Although he has a lot of excellent dating advice, he goes beyond that and discusses how to be a "real man", take control of your life, and live it to the fullest, which isn't the typical sexist content you may have seen in other places; a lot of his ideas can be applicable for women as well and I especially think this video I'm going to share is equally relevant for both genders.

Today, I want to share with you this video where he passionately tells you to never believe your negative self-talk, and this video really touched me, again as a person who's talked himself down a lot and is often very hard on himself:

Now I do want to say as a side-note, he's not saying that you shouldn't critique and better yourself and make necessary changes. What he's saying is to stop the self-defeating and limiting negative self-talk that brings you down which goes beyond just tactfully taking a look at yourself and identifying the problem areas.

The most groundbreaking sentence, I believe, is where says, "You need to be your biggest cheerleader." I just thought that this was an excellent way to put it. I feel like this is quite an interesting method in expunging negativity and promoting positivity within yourself.

Again, it doesn't mean to be mindlessly optimistic. The point is that by being your biggest cheerleader, you're being your biggest source of encouragement and are positively orienting yourself to push through difficulties and take the initiative to meet your goals. This is similar to the message of the picturebook, The Little Engine That Could, where the engine who maintains faith and positivity and positively pushes himself the most is the one that ends up succeeding in pulling the train over the steep grade.

I just wanted to share this video and message with any of you folks who are suffering from negative self-talk or are having difficulties in certain areas of your life, like myself, and hopefully this helps.
