and guys have you noticed this or is it the opposite for u?
Do girls like guitarists?
and guys have you noticed this or is it the opposite for u?
Hello sir. I hope I can explain it a little bit.
I think ladies like men who are able to offer them more what an average person can.
Not everyone is able to play a musical instrument. Being able to understand and to work with different instruments is a genetic advantage.
There are two ways people can play; mechanical and more with passion. People often play automatically mechanical, because you need to learn and understand the properties of the music sheets and the guitar in order to play. Once you learn that you either play that way, which is okay, but you're never gonna stand out.
The second part is what I think women are most interested in, playing with passion. Men who walk those extra miles to achieve something because they love it. that's what I think way more attractive then others that try to get attention from it. Seeing someone playing with it's "Heart and Soul" gives a better feeling. Likewise they also are rather soft-hearted. They care. It shows of a more emotional side and shows that you aren't afraid to express your feelings. It shows confidence in a way.
Not only that but this means you have a creative mind.
Being passionate is always attractive. However when you show over-confidence it is and always will be a no.
Anyways don't do it because you want to stand out by girls/guys, do it because your hearts want to, because you love to play it. Seeing such people always wakes up admiration for them.
I'm gonna tell you a story. One day me and my friends were at a bonfire with all these girls. We were having fun and lots of flirting and talking and all of a sudden this guy one of the girls invited shows up with a guitar. Of course me and my friends think he's a douche and we like to play guitar too, but we just kinda sat there and didn't say anything like whatever. So this guy starts playing some music and I swear he was using only basic chords and singing a song and the lyrics were like that one gay song from the plain white tees except he would mix it up and be like "I love you. You're so beautiful." And all of a sudden he started to leave and he took half of the girls with him down by the water and was playing over there, but my friends, the rest of the girls and I who actually had a sense of music and knew what he was doing were making fun of him the rest of the night. The moral of the story is that girls who have no music knowledge at all will automatically be attracted to a guy who can sing good and at least play the open chords of guitar. The ones that know music and know some about guitar playing will be a little bit more challenging to woo with your music skills. Good luck man.
I'm a musician myself, and when I first met my boyfriend, the first thing I learned about him was that he had a strong passion for music as well, specifically the guitar. So that's what first attracted me to him. We've been together for a while, and he'll practice his guitar around me. :) He's really good, too. He likes playing jazz and blues and stuff, and he knows a lot about music theory. He plays the saxophone in the school band, while I play the cello in the school orchestra. Sooo, I'm a classical girl and he's...not. :P So we'll banter over which is better, cello or guitar. Even though I try to bash the guitar sometimes and argue that the cello is better, I realize the guitar's difficulty and I respect it. But he doesn't understand the difficulty of playing the cello, and I don't think he really respects it, either :/ He tends to think he's better than me at everyyyything. So I still have to work on that with him. Hah!
And to answer your question: yes, it's a turn on. And like ArtistBboy said, it shows depth. But arrogance about it...not so much. :P Just a healthy confidence. :)
Cello is much more difficult more difficult to master :-).
Yes! Thank you! Finally! I'm so glad you think so...cause really...it IS much more difficult to master. I've taken private lessons for the past 2 years now, and I still have a long ways to go. :P haha.
You can probably play the guitar. Ask him to play your cello! :-). Keep up your lessons there are few things more beautiful than a girl playing the cello beautifully.
Yeah, I can play the guitar better than he can play my cello. :P It sounds like a dying cat when he's playing it, no joke. And yet he still tries to argue that the guitar is harder. HA! I can at least play a couple tunes on the guitar. But I'm a cellist! And don't worry, I always will be. :D
Cello is way better... less strings to cut. hahaha jk I like orchestrial instruments
I do...but I like bass players more though...there are TOO many guitarists in the world, and not enough of those that are actually very good at it...so...
I love talent...playing guitar doesn't guarantee that you're good at it though. I know, I'm a musician myself and I've met too much guitar players who consider themselves superb when they're actually pretty average or worse.
And, also, I've found that guitarists are mostly the most conceded of all other musicians...the ones on the 'main guitar position' in the band.
So...bass players for me! :P
Or painters! :)
Were have you been allll my life...lol... I’m totally marrying a guitarist/musician……………….and Heck Yeahhhhhh girls loveeeee guys who play the guitar or who a musician period it’s such a turn on …..Girls obviously don’t know what there messing you just holds tight she will come very soon…!

Duh? Women love musicians in general. Guitarists, Pianists, Singers, etc. It's attractive to them. Why? I dunno, many reasons. Be it cause of the drive to do something, or the fact they think of romantic nights being serenaded to or something I dunno. You'd have to ask the individual girl :P
As for me, I LOVE a girl who can sing or play an instrument too. I'd love to just listen to such a beautiful voice and be lucky enough to be an audience of one :P but ya, I enjoy trying to play guitar myself. And I enjoy singing. I just prefer to keep it private to myself. I'm not one to care about showing off.
Here's the catch man, women like depth because it shows you have other priorities than "getting laid". Depth includes anything in the world that fills time or gives experience; it could be work, school, snowboarding, football, any sport/hobby/passion, etc.
So to say that women "don't like guitarists" would be false information. They are either indifferent or they will like the fact that you can play the guitar. They will never be "turned off" by a hobby unless you become obsessive and make it your life. Which sometimes can even counter-act and become an extreme turn on based on a "passion" which is something you enjoy.
Needless to say, I have a guitar- I just wish I could play it and write my own songs.
Best regards,

Find a good guitar shop in your area, walk in with you're guitar, and tell someone I have no idea how to play this f'in thing can somebody teach me. Most musicians love to teach and will probably give you a free lesson. Take a few lessons, and you'll be playing in no time. Hang around and you'll get to know the people in the store. The more interest you have in different styles of music, the more people will want to teach. The key is finding the right music shop.
Thanks man, do you know what the charge might come up to? Who knows, I might be the next August Rush - haha...
It really depends. Someone might charge you $20 for a half hour lesson, but the half hour lesson may go an hour and a half. Depending on what the guy has going on, what you're picking up or not picking up etc.. Most people who give lesson need to get a feel for how best to teach you to play. If you buy all your equipment from one store, you'll get a lot of free lessons. If you hang around the store, you'll pick up a lot from just watching. When you get an ear for music, you'll start playing
I appreciate it man, I'll look into that! =)
I think they mentioned free music lessons, but I was like "it's a gift for my sister" lol... I thought their ears would bleed from the satanic tunes that came out of the guitar- based off how horrible I am ;-)
It's.... a work in progress ;D lol
Like anything else, the more interested you are in music; the more quickly you'll learn. If you have a broad interest in the types of music you like, you'll quickly find "an ear" for how different musicians play. Pick up different guitars. Listen to how and why each sound different. Pretty soon you know not only the chords, notes, licks... but what guitar a guy is playing and why he's playing that guitar. Congratulations, you have an appreciation for style; you'll wonder what was ever so hard.
I think it depends on the girl and what type of music you play. When you play in a band, girls that see you play are more interested, but I believe the thought of you playing is more interesting than the fact that you play. It's not the big plus that most guys think. The girls I've dated like to see me play piano much more than the guitar.
Play music because you love the music. That is much more satisfying than playing for a girl or anyone else.
What effect do you think the piano had over the guitar?
My parents made me take piano lessons in first grade; they dragged me to operas. So, I learned to appreciate music at an early age. I get all into what and how music is played. When I play, it turns into a music appreciation lesson, which isn't a big turn on. You can only do so much with a guitar and I'm the only one playing. I can sit at a piano, show her a few notes, and she becomes part of the music. She can play part in music, and she appreciates whatever music is played.
Maybe - it really depends on whose playing the guitar and how it sounds. A lot of guys play guitar. Not all guys who play the guitar are sexy/ impressive etc...
There are some guys who play the guitar and get in bands just for girls. I find those guys quite boring and their music even more so.
I love talented and skilled musicians - it's definately hot! But only when it's for real y'know. I'm sure there are a ton of girls that love guitarmen.
Rockstar Superhero Guitarman!
guitarist are AWSOME! music is passion, so to have a guy who nows how to play is amazing. it just shows he has passion and comitment, plus hand talent. (not in the dirty way) :P
i only have to see a guy with guitar an I'm leggless, just one of them things lol
i love guys who are passionate about music period.
guitarists are super attractive, maybe because of the way they look when concentrating on a song...idk. I appreciate it as well since I can read music, and rock is one of my favorite genres too.
just wait a while, plenty of girls would love a guy that can play the guitar. especially if he would play exclusivley for her. =)
I love gus who play rock instruments! It's such a turn on. But, there are a lot of guys who play guitars and such nowdays, more than there used to be so it's not that girls don't like guitar-playing guys it's just that there are so many to chose from!
that all depends on what type of music your playing. If you play metal you won't get that many girls interested but country on the other hand they like. I've been playing guitar for a long time, and in my experience country is a lot easier to teach and a lot easier to play, metal is easy to, but teaching a girl metal ya not so much.
They still dig it but it can't be like your only "thing." I have a friend who will like go into the guitar store at the mall when he is with a girl he likes and just start playing a bunch of songs that he learned how to play on the internet. It is really cheesy and it just doesn't have any passion. When you actually make your own stuff they like it a lot more. But again, it's all about the passion rather than showing off.
um...let me ask another question
do you play just because you want to girls attention or do you play because you actually LIKE to play...
and yea,if you want attention go play some sensetive accoustic songs
they'll stick to you like glue
how shallow this might be it is true :\
I love country music and I've always wanted to learn to play guitar so when my boyfriend told me he plays and has an old acoustic guitar he was willing to give me and teach me how to play with, I about died! It's not just the guitar playing I love, it's that he wants to teach me because he knows how much it would mean to me! I'm might just be weird but I find it romantic when a guy takes his time to teach me something.
guitars used to be romantic or cool, but now everyone does it and its really passe. PLUS, sometimes boyfriends are more interested in their guitar than their girlfriend. It really just isn't that impressive anymore.
are you kidding? musicians are hot!
if a girl is more into the latest dance hit on the radio than the kind of music you like to play she probably isn't right for you anyway.
So true!
Dance and hip-hop is great for just that- dance. Guitars are totally sexy. And it shows you have commitment and talent. I don't know why the girls around you aren't interested. (I certainly would be ;P)
Haha yes guitar is a turn on... As long as they're good ;D. I'm not a total girly girl and I lik rock and metal- so I at least kinda kno about what the guys play. But don't go for the greasy hair, emo douche look tho, cause it's gettin to become pretty cliche.
Yes. A Lot. Any musical talent is hot. Really. More talented = more attractive.
Granted, that could be said of a few other skills, but as a musician myself, I'm rather partial.
Im a guy.. I play guitar... very well actually...
hot. ;p
i like boys who play guitar, but not the kind of guitarists who only do it for popularity. I only like it when the boy really finds passion in it and doesn't do it because others are doing it.
Awe, you play guitar? I want to, and have been trying to get a teacher. I think guys who play guitar are awesome! Just some people think you should b in a band, or sorta cute lookin
I think you should just play the guitar because it's fun and you can express yourself not to impress women.
i love guitar players. all the girls you know must be crazy if they don't love you by now. I'm a country girl so that makes it a helluva lot better.
