What does it mean when he put his hand on my leg near my knee?

We are friends, and I think we both are interested in each other. I was hanging out with him and his friends (it was my first time meeting his friends).
It happened at the almost end of the whole day out. we were sitting on the bus, with his friend and his friend's girlfriend next to him while I was on his other side.
He was using his phone with one hand, and then placed his other hand on my leg near the knee (he never did that before). Later, he took away and put his hand back on my leg for like three times in total. Each time his hand stayed like 30s to 1 min. Well, I didn't react to that, but I was really shocked becoz we seldom had body contact before.

During that day, when crossing the streets or on the streets crowded with people, he put his hand around my lower back or waist sometimes when we were walking (he never did that before).

I don't know if he was affected by his friend and his friend's girlfriend who had many intimate or relationship acts like kissing, hugging and cuddling and that's why he did those to me.

Although after that day out he seems texting more than he used to be, I still don't think he is attempting to create more topics in text conversations. He only texts me sometimes in a week.
