What does it mean when a guy is touchy with my hands?

me and my guy friend have been friends for a few months but lately i’ve been feeling like things have shifted between us because of the things he does.

something that caught my attention that he didn’t do before was getting touchy with my hands. when we are sitting together in class he randomly puts his hand over mine and caresses it, he also leaves it there for a long time so it’s not like a fast and subtle touch. he finds every opportunity to touch my hands and put his over mine at random times without a reason. i’m not exactly sure what this means because i feel like hands are more of a special place but i’m not too sure.

he also puts his hand on my leg and leaves it there while he’s doing something else.

That's a very easy one, darling. "Your friend" is seeking to evolve the friendship you're currently in, or at least were in prior to him getting handsy with your hands, see that type of contact regardless of any of the further touch suggests an interest because our hands are the focal point of our touch senses & considering he is focusing his touch sensation onto yours especially in a public setting has very obvious implications, some you as a female may not even consider. secondly, the act of caressing your hands with his is an absolute dead give away, where as that is simply not something you do with an ordinary friend, even a best friend, that isn't a best friend with benefits, of course. Him softly caressing your skin is him trying to conduct literal electricity between you two. I'm not sure if you've gotten goose bumps or have had your hair stand up on end as a result of the sensation this action has caused, but if you have that is your body responding to the electrically charged connection he's generating between you two, & at the very least he's attempting to make you feel good. Another aspect of this change concerning the setting of which it takes place is there could be some form of signaling he's attempting to send out to any guy's in that vicinity. Essentially he's engaged in mon verbal communication with these other dudes, clearly communicating that you are not to be pursued as he is demonstrating that you two are involved. To wrap this up it is crystal clear that at the very minimum your friend would like to initiate a benefits package within that friendship. Although, if there are others present whom are able to see this public display of affection that more than likely suggests that's he is interested in something even more significant than friends with benefits, & is crushing on you to enough of a degree that he wants you to DROP the "B" in "boyfriend"(best friends) & replace it with a "G" to make it "girlfriend"(Go figure Girl Fraan) with Valentine's Day quickly approaching I wouldn't be the least but surprised if he uses that corporately inspired holiday meant to rally up our consumerist society to be compelled to go out & buy a bunch of stuff to balance out the lower revenueof a 28 day month, as an opportunity to break it to you. Or if he's nervous that you will reject him ultimately tainting the original friendship he might be content on merely buying you valentine themed items on that day ensuring he has a kernel of deniability suggesting that sometimes good friends but their good friends gifts on Valentine's, & if that's the case I my impression is that he's done enough actions capable of illustrating his interest for more & he's hoping that you're responsive to his moves & able to translate what they mean, & that you feel similarly interested in pursuing a relationship to the point of you actually being the one who brings that concept up so he can finally act on that expression of interest & make the relationship he desperately wants into a reality finally. This way he creates the potential to make what he wants a reality without the fear of rejection being faced & without negatively impacting your original friendship. Then again that state of mind didn't account for you going onto this app & acquiring the very detailed insight of some old man on the internet who knows how he thinks & divulging his entire thought process to you. I feel I may have betrayed, "bro code" with this one, oh well. I hope it works out the best for you both. Take care.
