Old man winter has hit my area hard over the past couple weeks. I love being outside, hiking through the woods and working in my garden are some of my favorite pastimes. I miss sunshine. I guess I am like a lot of people who get depressed during the dreary winter months.
So how do we get over our winter blues?
I researched the topic online and thought I would try out some of the suggestions to see which of them actually help brighten my mood.
After trying 10 different ideas, I found these 3 things really did help.
Exercise
Yes I know experts say exercise is the cure for everything but after 30 minutes of doing Zumba I felt a little lighter.
Treat Yourself
After I was able to dig my way out of my driveway, I scheduled an appointment at the local salon and treated myself to 30 minute massage and seaweed wrap. My mind and my skin thanked me!
Embrace the Season
I really think this one helped the most. I bundled up my kids and we hit the snow wide open. We built a snowman, tubed down the hill in our backyard and just rested in the snow letting the sun warm our faces. It was rejuvenating. It was perfect.
