Exercise for a pear shaped woman?

Hello, I'm a pear shaped woman and, on top of that, I'm out of shape. I understand I'm unattractive either way so you don't have to say it, but I would still like to try dieting and mostly exercising in order to tone up a bit. Especially my thighs and overall lower body part.

I would like to hear about people's experiences, maybe what worked best for you and any other advice.
I'm 32 yo, 5'5'' and 132 lbs. I'll post a pic below for reference...
