Internet usage, when does it become a problem?

I use the internet daily, I hate TV so I spend my time alone (when I'm not on the ps3) browsing several forums, news feeds and other stuff, via my laptop with mobile access... I don't gamble online and I have a healthy social life, yet I still get slagged off by peers for "living in the internet"...

I see people on here and other forums posting daily, and I was wondering if anyone else experiences this? Do you think you have a problem? And anyone who does think it's a problem then what is acceptable internet usage?

I only think it would be a problem if it interferes with the basic parts of a person's daily life (work, personal hygiene, social life, etc.). The internet is just a means to information, and as long as it's kept in that perspective, I think the people who use it will be fine.

I agree. However, I use my laptop when I'm on the train, bus, waiting for friends, basically any time I have a minute I park myself down and browse. Then when I mention to some of my friends or work colleagues something funny or interesting I might have seen, they tell me to stop living in the internet or other jibes to that effect. I accept it's just friendly banter, but it can get annoying.

I guess you can either tell them to lighten up on the wisecracks, or don't mention internet-related stuff around them as much. Either way, they'll probably stop throwing those joking barbs your way.

I give as good as I get my friend, and they can screw themselves If I'm gonna change because of a few wisecracks.

Yea I am on the internet way to much for my own good. I'm not going to get into detail but lets just say I spend hours of my life everyday on here.
