No not really the chances are incredibly minimal, i had to use it when having 4 teeth removed and having the nerves under a molar re aligned has they had somehow tangled, pretty painful, basically they gave me a does and said " okay just rest and in 5 minutes you'll be asleep " anyway ten mins later and no affect the stuff just didn't hit me so i had to have another dose haha, nonetheless i really wouldn't worry, they're trained professionals and know exactly how much and how to use it on you and how to act, i promise you nothing will go wrong they only use small amounts and don't fully knock you out :)

I wouldn't worry about it it is very rare, I have been under general anaesthetic (put to sleep) twice and never knew a thing. Once a tube with a camera was put down my penis/urethra and the other i had my broken thumb sliced open, rearranged and metal stuck in it so whatever it was must have been very very strong for me not to wake up either of those times.
They usually just use local anesthesia and maybe some Valium. You'll be fine. You're not going to die from a tonsillectomy.
I have been under more times then I care to remember it's safe. I wouldn't worry about it.

im sure local anesthesia won't kill you.
Tonsillectomy is one of those safest ones. The type of anesthesia depends on the procedure. It may be Local or general. Either way, the dosage and effects will be monitored throughout the procedure by a trained anesthesiologist. So the chances are very minimal.
