I felt really awkward when I was starting out too. Didn't help that I was overweight in a room full of crazy fit people. Now I lift with the best of them.
You should find a trainer to help you build a good routine. Don't just trial and error your way through weights/machines.

Nice! Congrats!!! Make sure your lifting correctly though as you can injure yourself and alternate which muscles you work out and dont skip leg day!!! Glad to hear your giving the gym a try and its a great way to relieve stress and is a really good habit.
Good for you! Keep up the good work! :) I did hit the gym today, and it was great, but it's not my first time going. Just a good habit now haha.

First 10mins was so awkward. I wasn't as built as everyone there. Sooo intimidating but I just kept telling myself "we all start at some point, at least i'm taking initiative" and yeah, it all worked out. No one actually takes too much notice of you. It's all in the mind.
Second session I got a personal trainer to run me through everything. It's well worth it so they can make you a program and properly teach you how the machines work. You should definitely get in a session with one.they only notice you when you do some exercise a funny way and may come up to you if you start doing something that looks very dangerous ^^ or they just ask you when your sets are ready... other than that there is no real interaction ^^
my first day at the gym i threw up lmfao, i had toast for breakfast, it was a fullbody intense workout and as it was my first time, my body couldnt handle it, i got really thisty and then felt sick, i just made it to the toilets and threw up everywhere lol, i was also sore as fuck the next day for about 2 weeks.
Also stick to free weights for compound movements instead of machinesI don't like gyms!
