For supplements, I'd recommend your basic whey protein just to get started, most popular would be anything by optimum nutrition, cellucor, & BSN. Supplements, I take on the daily are whey protein, amino acids, multi-vitamins, creatine, and a pre-workout.
I've been training for 4yrs and I can tell you diet is very important. Rather you want to bulk up or make lean gains, adjusting the big 3 macros in your diet (carbs, fat, protein) can help you get the physique you want. Also, don't forget to train like a beast and you may want to join a gym at some point if you want to progress further.
