You want the hair pretty long so that the wax can get a grip on it, so go without shaving for as long as you can stand it before the appointment. How long it lasts really depends on how fast your hair grows - I have to shave every damn day, and waxing only keeps my legs clear for a week or so, but I think my hair grows unusually fast.
It's not nearly as uncomfortable for me as everyone jokes about. The aesthetician will brush your skin with cornstarch or some other powder to help the wax stick to the hair but not your skin. The wax itself is pleasantly warm when it rolls on. How much it stings when the hairs are pulled out by the roots varies from person to person, but if you've plucked your eyebrows with tweezers, you probably have a good baseline for how it'll feel. Sugar wax dissolves in water, so it will easily soak off instead of having to pull the wayward bits off, which tugs on the skin and kinda hurts. Afterwards, the aesthetician will probably use a cold compress or cortizone cream to ease the irritation. And the more you do it, the more you lose actual hair follicles, so your hair gets thinner and it hurts less. Plan for 24 to 48 hours between when you wax and when you're first on the beach - you want time for the redness to go away, and you don't want to put sunscreen or anything else irritating on the skin until the redness goes away. Have fun on vacation!
It doesn't hurt that much.
okay, thanks
