Any special recipes or things you like that I could possibly make.
My friends love my rainbow cupcakes link
So I'm making those but what else? Any ideas?
Thanks :)
The key about bake sales is making things which sell hand from hand, and are plain delicious.
Keep it simple, don't risk it by being very adventurous.
You can make a great 'Raspberry Sorbet framboise' or something, but it is likely the good old chocolate chip cookies will sell out more, because its something you can trust and 'cant go wrong with'. So play safe, and make sure its irresistible. Because your challenge is to sell out, not compete as some culinary master chef.
And I have known brownies to be the best sellers.
I suggest you use chocolate, cream, and sugar as your key ingredients because people can seldom resist these at the bakery. They just taste so good. Perfect the recipe, and if you keep it simple like I suggest you do, you will not go wrong with anything.
Also I am not sure if you school allows this, but you can also sell shakes, sundaes and such drinks along with the bakery items, and it will be a new twist everyone will go crazy for.
Lastly, Check out this one episode on Top Chef just desserts (not sure about season two but I saw one on season 1) and they had a challenge to be at a bake sale for some school. So you may google that and take some ideas :)
I hope this helped you out, good luck!
Nice tips, but rather than adding on more "sugary drinks" - I'd advise just having a cooler filled with water bottles. People are bound to be thirsty when they are eating all these sugary deserts - the last thing they will look for is some more sugar to coat their throats. I know for a fact that I've had difficulty finding a water for under $5 at any of the events I go to locally (fairs / festivals / etc).. If you bring your own water, you're bound to make extra $$ to cover ingredients
True, but I don't know if we're allowed to bring in drinks as well
That's a very good suggestion. I personally think you CAN experiment with ice cream (it's more like a dessert) and there are people who would rather have a shake or sundae with some nutts wafers and chocolate than bakery items as such. But yes, the suggestion of having water (given coolers aren't readily available at your venue or the school disallows such items) can be very useful.

Also check this out. these are patterns made of chocolate (from the tube thingy) on greased wax paper and then kept in the freezer, and then peeled off carefully to dip in desserts or place on frosting etc. They look very pretty, and you can also google this, look for the right techniques, and it would make your items look visually pleasing, which attracts customers. And its also easy when done on large scale.
Thanks for the best answer by the way :D
Those are adorable! I want to open a bakery now, I love baking! Lol, oh your welcome you've given me so many ideas and suggestions you deserve it
Yeah I have seen musical notes and floral patterns too. You can even make a zigzag thingy, it doesn't have to be very neat.
And lol thanks, I grew up with 4 females in the family, I am quite familiar with bake sale strategies xD
Lol nice. How much should I sell the rainbow cupcakes for? What's a reasonable price for these treats? I don't wanna charge people ridiculous prices
I don't live in the United States, so I can't really say anything about that. But if you can pull off quality items, then charge at least as much as a fairly good bistro, that is if you truly think they are worth the effort and value (ask your teachers and friends). But I suggest you keep the simpler items like cupcakes and biscuits on the cheapest end, but do charge higher if there is craftsmanship involved, such as on pastries, tarts, mousse cake etc
those look so fun and yummy

Buckeyes?
WOAH! you've never had buckeyes? omg. It's like a ball of peanut butter/confectioner sugar dipped in chocolate and looks like a buckeye. easy and a hit seller for sure! all you have to do is mix it up roll out your peanut butter balls. stick toothpicks in them put them in the freezer for a bit and then dip them in your melted chocolate! Let me know how it goes!
make the rainbow cupcakes, those look so cool!
They are but I have to make more than just a few rainbow cupcakes
ok, maybe brownies or 7 layer bars or rosettes? :)
Rosettes?
Those look so pretty! I think I'd make ugly ones though xD
