Opening a restaurant is a very risky venture. My family owned one. They fold here in L. A. like a cheap suit.
Well, I'm big into theme and ambiance. Here goes. I'd like to see a restaurant that embraces Googie. Googie architecture and design. For those who don't know, Googie was a design style popular in the late 50s through the 60s. Think Jetsons. Think L. A's theme restaurant. Think the Space Needle. Think Tomorrowland at Disney. Those are all Googie. A time when people looked at the future with great optimism. Have a dance floor. Play modern music mixed with Space Age Pop thrown in there for flavor. Food? Americana I guess. Here's a link to Googie design:

I'd like to see a bar with a pirate theme, too. I'm surprised there are so few of them, since the (romanticized) version of their lifestyle would seem to lend itself easily to a bar or a club.
I love Italian food, yet so few Italian restaurants seem to embrace the glory that was Rome. I know technically Rome wasn't Italy (and the food they ate in ancient Rome was... exotic). Still, it would be great to see an Italian restaurant lavish the eyes with Roman columns, Roman mosaics, Roman statues, and so forth.
By the way, there was a bar/club up in San Francisco that had the best theme I've ever seen: drug smuggling. It was done up like a Central American or South American jungle, and there was an airplane fuselage in one part. It wasn't a modern jet, but a DC-3, like a drug smuggling plane had crashed in the jungle. Neat place.

My restaurant would be Outside In. A restaurant the serves classic and exotic dishes, that are prepared to be healthier than what they taste. The inside of the restaurant would have a jungle feel/vibe, their would be a combo of natural and artificial elements to create the vibe like your in the jungle, and the waiters would be tied into the jungle theme by wearing outfits that make them look like they live in the jungle. The vision/mission of the restaurant is to of people healthy versions of the dishes they love/once enjoyed and dishes they want to try. The jungle theme is a statement to show that all the ingredients in our dishes are 100% fresh and natural and come from nature.
I'd call it "Adventures of the Tongue" or same meaning in another languge that sounds sexier haha...
It would serve all sorts of unusual foods, the slogan would either be "only for the brave and adventurous..." or "why eat something boring if you can eat something totally new and wonderful?"
I would be like the messiah of trying out new types of food.
I would like to sell sweet stuff like dessert and ice cream.
I hope to keep it comfortable and happy including my employees and my customers to make them happy.
probably only have a few employees in a small restaurant

All the produce would be local and seasonal, and my food would be organic whenever humanly possible. Basically, I would strive for the absolute best quality and freshest ingredients I could get my hands on.
I would probably want to focus on Mexican because that's my favorite food and I'm just really passionate about it. I'd really want to be known for tamales because, well, they're like the greatest thing ever. The best restaurant was next to a farmers market... a true farmers market with food fresh from farms. LOL!!! and they used that food also. If I had a restaurant, it would be something similar. It would be decorated on the inside, not bland and boring.
No way would I ever want to own a restaurant. You ALWAYS have to be there and it's very involved. I'd love to be a chef/cook at one, but not an owner. Health code's have to always be kept up to, customers are always right even when they aren't, and have you seen the movie 'Waiting'?
My restaurant would be called Flattened Critters inc. and we would serve roadkill to our customers. my motto "Roadkill shouldn't go to waste neither"
Wouldn't a mission statement just be "Make money"?
Quit trying to get other people to do your homework!!
