What makes someone a good hugger?

I am told all the time that I give the best hugs, but they never tell me why they think this. What makes a person an excellent hugger, male and female?

How I hug: I slowly get into the hug, may lie my head on their shoulder depending on the person, hold them very close and stay there for a bit then slowly move out of the hug.

I think that being comfortable giving a hug plays a big role in it. You know, the type of hug where you feel like you can really hold on to the person without feeling rushed, and you're not afraid to make maximum contact with their body, and you feel like you can really embrace them without being completely preoccupied with when you should break it off.

I'm 5'8 which is tallish for a girl I guess but the people telling me I'm a good hugger have been taller, the same size and smaller than me...

I think being the same size is best but that's my opinion.

Yes, actually height plays a major part in hugging too. I am 5/9 and half. I am quite big (chubby?).

I love your height by the way. Whenever I hug people that are shorter than me, I feel like Winnie the Pooh or some sort!

Oh yeah, chubbiest can also help make you a good hugger as they often are naturally warmer and also they are so soft and... cuddly...

Yeah, I hate hugging people smaller than me because of how awkward it can be to lean forward... and I'm a girl so their face could be right at my... you know what I mean lol.

Yes it is awkward. You should wear a chest-guard when every time you hug someone. Its funny, you should try it.

I do have a big 'chest' for a skinny girl so maybe that is a factor to why most of my compliments on my hug giving have been given by guys... actually all of them were guys...

I have many guys friends lol... I get on with more guys than I do girls. I just have more in common with guys I guess, I'm half tomboy XD

I prefer playing sport than talking about it. Nah I'm a music girl, my taste tends to be closer to guys then girls. I like the old stuff like The Rolling Stones, Cat Stevens, Simon and Garfunkel, Nirvana and all that. I also have seen many of the movies they love such as The lord of the rings (LOVE IT), Austin Powers, Monty Python movies, etc. That sort of similarities.

In my opinion it depends on the duration and comfortability. For example Someone who is really small and skinny might not be too comfortable to hug because they'll seem too fragile.

I think The openness to giving hugs can be taken as a good hugger, a good hugger makes the person they're hugging feel safe in their arms, It comforts them when they are down. If you give the best hugs spread them around, Hugs are great!

Awwww thanks :) I've hugged someone who is a good hugger myself and we both didn't want to let go XD it was cute. He was a good hugger because his body was warm, we were the same height, he put his shoulder on mine, and it wasn't a quick hug, it was long and we slowly came out of it... I love hugs so much <3

When you hug , you really hug, you know. It is not a quick. You make it slow and I like feeling other person s heat. You feel the person, not sexually. I mean it is more about the feeling. I call this, a good hug.
