Why Are There So Many Haters on Islam?

I just found out this website called GodHatesIslam and was pretty furious, as in, why and how the hell they know exactly that God, hates Islam?

As a girl, born and raised in an Islamic country, I personally do not hate Islam. Islam is a loving religion. Moreover, some of Islamic people are even the most generous and nicest people I've ever met. And if you ask, then how would I explain all the terrorist and the ISIS? Well I'd say that they do not, once again, they do not represent the true Islam. A true Islam is peace loving and certainly would not cause a ruckus or even murder people to show their loyalty to Allah. Islam believe that their good deeds will be counted and be mattered when they died, along their way to enter the Heaven. Now, considering that Heaven and Hell do exist for them (which I myslef believe they do exist), does it make any sense, that they will blow people's head by blowing their own heads (as in suicidal bomb) to be accepted in Heaven? The answer is yes, it does, and they call it jihad. Jihad, this term is so controversial as it is translated into different meanings in every country. In my country, Indonesia for example, the term Jihad means to sacrifice yourself for the sake of God or the religion itself (this is true, I've heard this a lot around here). In another country, say Moroco, Lebanon, the term means a "divine duty" or a "worship of God" in a non military way (taken from Jihad. Wikipedia. 23 March 2015.) People who do Jihad are said to have a safe passage straight to Heaven without their good deeds being counted anymore a.k.a free ticket to the Heaven (at least that's what I heard around here). Alluring? Totally, but one problem, it is often being done in a very wrong way.

I'd honestly say that I know so little about Islam, and hey, you can even critisise me for my little knowledge yet writting this take. But I understand one thing, that taking people's life, to have one self gains a free ticket to Heaven, is so far from what Islam is. Jihad is not wrong, you can sacrifice yourself for the sake of God without killing other people. Like holding in your rage when someone bullies you because of your belief, I consider that sacrificing yourself for the sake of God. You fight off your rage, to show people that Allah is loving, that your belief is a belief that does not teach you to avenge what's been done to you, but to embrace the people who's done it to you, yeah, I can call that a sacrifice inside.

Now being raised in a Christian family, I do believe in God and Jesus Christ (please be respectful to my belief here guys), and that being said, I know that Islam's Allah and my God is the same. Both Islam and Christian shared the same history up to Abraham time. Abraham's son Isac from Sarah, would be the successor of what would be the later Christianity while Abraham's son Ishmael from Hagar, would be the successor of what would be the later Islam. Since both Christian and Islam were from the same ancestor (Abraham) who believed in God, I can hereby say that our God is the same. Islam's Allah is Christian's God and vice versa. Hence, as stated at the begining of this take, I feel furious with the statement GodHatesIslam, cause there is no way that God or Allah would hate Islam. Who are we to judge or who are we to say, concretely, without even a single statement in both Quran and Bible, that God hates Islam? So wrong! Even when they are wrong, always hate the sins, not the sinners.

Regardless you believe in the existence of God or not, at least put it this way. If you don't like people telling you what to do or what to believe, and if you hate it when people start to push their belief on you, and if you hate it when people judge you for your theory or your own belief system, then stop hating the Islams and stop having a bad concept or image about them. Respect their beliefs and their views; try to put yourself in their position and imagine how they take all the hates but still standing firmly, facing the cruel world. Cause at the end of the day, what is more valueable than peace amongst humanity?

@RationalMale So you have one Muslim theologist say something and you automatically think that's the way it was? There is almost always dissent in theology. That's why there are so many different denominations of Christianity.

To my knowledge it was actually somewhere between 10-12 and in either case it was after she reached puberty. That's an Islamic law if I'm not mistaken. The notion was also rather common even outside of religion back then. So it almost certainly wasn't just Muslims. The whole waiting until 14 then 16 then 18 is fairly new. It gradually has continued going up. That's mostly cultural conditioning though. It isn't really based on science, per-say.

Whether it's 'right' or 'wrong' is ultimately an opinion.

You consider "Hisham" respected based on what? Given that neither one of us, I imagine, are Muslim and neither one of us read arabic getting this sourced is a bit difficult. But I think the ones below are somewhat reliable, at least enough to imply that it isn't clear how old she was. OR at worst that she had hit puberty by the time she consummated.

Most people believe Islam is based on a peaceful teaching. It is not. In fact their is no difference between Islam and Extreme Islam. There is only ISLAM. Chapter 5 of the Koran demands the DEATH of all non believers. So once Islam takes hold and becomes a majority in any community it is only a matter of time till the blood bath starts. You don't get to decide what that is, cupcake. Here's the reality: there are competing versions of Islam, just like there are competing versions of Christianity, and they all think they're right and others wrong. Too bad it's inconvenient for you. ISIS is real Islam, whether you like it or not. They are just a competing version, and until the entire Islamic community decides to clean house and eliminate the Medieval tendencies still found in the religion (including among more legitimate Islamic states, such as Saudi Arabia), people have a very strong reason to dislike Islam.

Good point, maybe I used a wrong word there. I do know there are competing version of Islam in my country too, one is more radical than the other. The word "true" is too subjective I think. Well all I'm trying to say is just that it is unfair how many generelize Islam is a bad religion and hating Islam people while only some certain parties from this religion who do shits to others.

The painful answer is: because a few souls abuse that religion to justify violence. And people see them as the stereotype of what Islam is.
I think we need to mobilize the 99% correct muslims to isolate the 1% wrong ones and prevent them from recruiting extremists.
Than, when we're successfull, build on the good bonds we built with muslim communities.

@UltimateSkaros I can only speak based on what I see here in Belgium: in the 2 largest cities Brussels and Antwerp there are muslim communities of between 100,000 and 200,000 people, and the ones linked to extremism are max 500. Of which some 20 or so are recruiting extremists and the rest are brainwashed people.
It's the last category you need to "target" with honest info, and that is best received if it comes from other muslims.
The problem we have here is that the problem has been disregarded for too long. It's only when Syria fighters started coming home that panic and action started.

I'm a Christian and I have met some extremely kind and genuine Muslims. the only type of Islam I have a problem with is the extremism that's happening right now with ISIS. Just because they're like that doesn't mean the rest of the religion is like that. Same goes for Christianity. Ever heard of Westboro Baptist? I'm pretty sure they would love to go and assist ISIS in beheading people.

@evenlift I didn't mean to insinuate that Westboro has murdered people or that they are on the same level as ISIS. No, not at all. I used that example to illustrate how a louder and angrier group (I know there's a better way to describe those types of groups.. but I can't think of it at the moment. You get what I mean though), even if much smaller than the majority, can become the stereotype for the rest of the group. There are people who assume that all Muslims are just like the people of ISIS, just as there are people who assume that all Christians (or all Baptists) are just like the people of Westboro Church.

My boyfriend is a Muslim. I'll be honest, I never hated Islam, but I had my bias views on it. Until his family welcomed me and his community made me feel so loved, it was then that I was open to educate myself. I find that it has a lot to do with media's portrayal or terrorists and such. My boyfriend always says that you cannot deny something you have seen with your own eyes, and he says that the rest of the world doesn't want to know about what really happens in Middle Eastern countries.
