This guy said to me, because I am 50% Arab but was born here, I am NOT considered a real Arab... What?

i was born in the US but my dad moved to the US from Jordan for college. He married my mom and raised me here. I have visited Jordan and other middle eastern countries quite a few times throughout my life. My entire side of my dad's family (very grand in size if I may add) live in the Middle East with a few in the US. I love all my family and I keep in contact and visit them. I am learning Arabic now. My dad always jokes that I am his "mini me," because our minds and behaviors are so much alike, it's almost spooky. I have my dad's eyes, face shape, nose, and forehead, mixed with my mom but you can definitely tell I am not fully white (not that one is better- I'm just saying). I listen to arabic music, I know and grew up eating middle eastern food, I have mannerisms like I said, much like my dad. Art I create has arabic flare and I create art with current political or social issues because I know how they affect my dad and my entire family, including me. I am not Muslim but my extended family is and I support them entirely.

Then this guy told me I was a fake Arab because I'm from and live here and I'm not fully 100% Arab. I found this offensive to my culture and ancestors who take pride who in we are. They had to move around before they settled in Jordan; my dad faced discrimination arriving here; my extended family continues to. I'm just kinda confused why he would say that.

And I do not glamorize being Arab or try to dress and showcase that I am. i just recognize that in my blood and heart I am.
