AskMen used to be great, before people actually heard about it. Now it's lost its way, like so many advice sites.
They still publish great books, like the AskMen's Guide to Style, which is not completely useful but their information on suits is wonderful...very detail oriented, and gives you a lot of information so you're not walking into a haberdashery clueless.
Sorry about the experience over there, it's not an accurate portrayal of us guys. And there is a bit of an upward trend with women who aren't dating until their 30's right now...so it's not that bizarre at all.
Good luck!

I used to check out AskMen, but then I discovered Cosmopolitan. I find Cosmopolitan more useful because it focuses on both men and women. AskMen mainly focuses on men. So, the information on Cosmopolitan is more accurate because both sexes are involved equally.

Just saw this board. Thought I'd say something. I came to AskMen just after 9/11 when it was first starting. A friend, "The Vark" invited me over and it was a great run on the first board before they started that "GuyQ" board. I always thought it was a mistake to have in the policy that anyone 13 years or older could join. I think that was a lot of it's undoing. Most message boards are cyclical and they start with their introduction, they begin to grow, and in time they mature and generally have the run they are going to have. Then, they go into their decline. By the "GuyQ" I was getting involved in some volunteer things locally and in time just ghosted AskMen. I've met some fine people there and miss them quite a lot. Today I moderate on other message boards for RV'ers and Van Nomads. I was going to cook on a River Boat but Covid sort of shot down my plans but hope to do it yet. So I'll say hi to anyone here who may remember me. I basically joined just to reply in this thread. All the best everyone ! :)
Omg, yes, I was on there and some men are caring and frank with their advice... only some.. But the the rest are arrogant self-absorbed non-sensitive jerks who seem bent on shaming women for their feelings at every turn. It's clear they view women like vending machines, that they should be able to stick something in the slot and get all the goodies with minimal effort. It seems they think any expectations on a woman's part is ridiculous as a laughable joke. Sorry, not trying to bash them but their advice is very masogenistic. Unfortunately I feel women's rights and respect for woman has not advanced that much in many ways. I feel that the Askmen forum is just a reflection of many men's true entitled feelings that they are afraid to voice in real life, but the internet gives them animoty. I do appreciate sensitive men that care about women's feelings to be accepting that we have a different makeup than them, and try to accommodate feminine feelings and needs in a relationship that are different from a man's and not wrong or bad.
What happened to me is, I asked normal questions and I was treated with a lot of hostility for no reason because they were very defensive against women.AskMen is like Cosmopolitan - Men's Edition! Feeding lies now also online!
I haven't checked the forums there, I wasn't even aware there is such thing, but what you wrote doesn't surprise me not even a bit!
A lot of articles in that website are seething of hatred and detest towards women, at first they seem to the point, about important topics & also interesting to read but later you realize they lack any objectivity and touch to reality.
Anyway.. that's the Net - don't take anything what's online too seriously, even what's here...LOL yeah I didn't care for their forums. I swear it seems most of the men joining there childish immature little a**holes. Sometimes the site itself has useful articles, but I haven't been on the forums in years.
But GAG seems only a little better at times. Especially since people like to abuse the anonymous feature to troll. No I don't..although I love t o refer to this----> link
Bet you can't guess why? PMSL ! Although the author is an idiot. but don't let them get you down..there are plenty of a$$holes on here too...I just hope you focus on the positives. I enjoy your presence!..(:(:(:It's men showing off to boys...no useful information there anyway. When it comes to girls at least. But lots of useful information on turning nerds into a**holes.
"Ask Men" is for men discussing matters that involve men. It's not for women to make an account and use it as a hub of male information. It's no surprise that they were rude to you.
That website should be called "ask boys." Not many MEN there.
So you are saying that GAG guys are nicer in comparison to other places? I am amused by this, but not because I think guys here are mean or anything. It's more of the girls' responses to guys. lol
Also, your age is wrong, correct?Gag male users become Ask Men users when they grow up. :P
never heard of it, truthfully
I look at them from time to time.
