How do you ask a girl out at a very busy restaurant?

Question

I can't stop thinking about this girl that works at this local eatery. I have noticed her glancing at me, and I am pretty sure she smiled at me once but I didn't notice. She seems like a really shy girl and I do not want to embarrass her at work or cause a scene. I went there once during off peak hours and asked for her but she wasn't working at the time. The girl seating people offered to tell me when she worked but I was so bummed I just asked to be seated. Anyways, I knew that I would not be able to get there in the next couple of weeks.

The real difficulty with this is usually I go there to eat with my parents since it is a family type restaurant. I know at my age(25) it wouldn't be too hip to flirt with girls with your parents there. I just don't know how to move forward with this. I mean I could try going there on off hours hoping that she is there and I can ask for her to be my waitress. I just seem to see her working when I am with my parents which is 100%(currently) of the time.

I used a tip I read about from here about writing a note backwards so it can be read in the mirror easily. I was thinking about asking another waitress to give it to her for me. It's not exactly how I want to ask her out but I don't know how else to do it. I just feel like I can't let this one get away from me. I just have such a strong feeling of I have to do this or I will regret it. Anyways, last time I went there myself I was so nervous I felt like I was going to fall down. I guess I need to grow a pair this time. LOL

I haven't even talked to her except I have given her my order on a couple of occasions. I don't know why but I am compelled to make this happen somehow. Please if anyone can help me out with this I will be in your debt.

Comment wasn't long enough. I gave her the note I wrote backward with a small message. I hope she doesn't throw it away. T. T At least I can say I did something. It didn't come out the way I wanted to but I made an effort. I really hope I made her night

I did this in front of my mother so I feel like I accomplished something. I am going to wait and see if she calls. I don't know what to say since this is my first time doing something like this. I mean usually I chat the girl up a little and gauge her.

Well, no call. It wouldn't be a surprise if she was taken. I am still going to "game" her

if I see her again. I think even if I happen to be with family I will try but it will only involve me.

OMG, I totally understand how you felt about that girl and how nervous it would be to hit on a waitress in public place. Actually the reason I came to this website and saw your story is that I had a very similar experience today! I just came back from a restaurant and still cannot calm down now, I feel so in love!
I noticed that sweet heart today when she first came and took my order. I felt interested in her instantly. And she waited my table so I had more chance to look at her and even told her that she had a nice hair cut. So I decide to leave a paper message to her when I leave. As you could imagine since I came there alone, I felt nervous all the time, and could not stop looking at her. I was hungry, but at that time I could not taste what I was eating because my whole attention was on her. I only finished half amount of food that I usually eat.

When I gave that message to her, I felt that my hands were shaking and me face were so blushed. It was also the first time I do such a crazy thing. I'm 20 now, did not have lot of experience of hitting on someone. But I just did't want to regret myself. Yes, as you said, at least we did something and put some effort buddy! Cheers.
Did she calls you back？ Now I'm also waiting for her message, but it seems that she won't do so.

Nearly every eatery has sugar packets on the table write your number down on it and next time she comes by hand it to her and tell her that she dropped it, this could also work if you just use a folded piece of paper, just be sure to pick it off of the ground after she passes. If that does not work you could always tell your mom to ask her for you after Mom causes a big scene then she almost has to say yes.

First of all it was dumb of you not to take that girls offer to tell you when she was working next. Real dumb. And please don't do that backwards note thing. I would read it and wonder why it was backwards lol... Awww man. I just read the update. Well I hope she calls. I don't know if I would or not. If you are cute and put on the charm I would call. Hope you got that charm

And that whole getting your mom to ask her out for you and act like you had no idea is a bad idea and i'm glad you didn't do it. It would make her feel awkward. This guy's mom did that to me once. I blushed and didn't know what to say.. Not too cool unless you guys know each other or at least have kind of a flirtation pattern. If she doesn't call then you know you f*cked up and you should have asked her out the right way. If she calls make sure you let her know that you have noticed her for some time now and are interested in taking her out sometime. Ask one of her friends at the restaurant what her favorite kind of food is and surprise her by taking her there. Or if you guys talk and she mentions someone she wants to go or wants to do but hasn't had the chance offer do it or go to the place with her. Good luck

hitting on waitresses/restaurant workers can be difficult, well asking out anybody at a job is difficult really, because they have what's called the "workers smile". see if they want to present a good environment and get sales, they HAVE to be smiley and nice, ya know?, a lot of guys take this the wrong way I know I have, I got shot down, but only cause she wasnt single... the first thing you want to do is actually talk to her somehow, yeah I know its busy, but just see if you can, ya know?, then what's youve gotten that you can find out a lot of stuff, ESPECIALLY if she's single, and if she is, does she like someone at the moment/does she not want to date right now

You seem to be doing everything right, but what ever you do ; do not have your mother involved. You may have been kidding around but please don't do it.  She knows now that you are interested in her, which is good. Can you make small talk with her? That would be nice. I never thought about the backwards note.  I thought that was pretty cool. I hope it works out for you, time will tell.
