Why does he act so weird around me?

Question

Ok, my guy friend is awesome he's like my closest guy friend. But lately he's been showing all the signs that he likes me (but he doesn't tease me or touch me or anything like that but he does play with my hair). So if he likes me then how come whenever I try and move closer to him he backs off? It's like whenever I touch his arm or something he'll go all frigidity and weird. To me it's kinda like wtf because he flirts with me but he won't touch me. He doesn't flirt with anyone else besides me so what's his deal? Why won't he touch me. He goes like a spaz whenever I try and touch him. Should I give up? This is really confusing me I mean he treats me like a princess and gives me whatever I want and whenever I ask him for help on my homework he'll do mine better than he does his but why won't he touch me? Is something wrong with me? When I hug other guys they're like overly touchy but when I hug him it's like he doesn't want to touch me. I just don't understand why he would treat me like an angel but he won't touch me. I mean he focuses all his attention on me but nope, no physical contact. I don't get it. Can someone explain?

Its not that he doesn't like you. its that he really does like you. Not the normal guy-after-girl likeing either. I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that he doesn't have a girlfriend, and is perhaps a simi-quiet guy. Yes?

Alright, I'll go out on a limb again. I would bet you that you are his first crush. (not kidding.) the behavior you where talkng about is pretty much exactly how I acted with my first crush. Don't be fearful. be flattered.

You might ask him what he thinks of you. Also, don't be supprised if he dosnet tell you he likes ya. That kind of situation, its rather hard (espcally for a quiet guy.) Ask him more than once (but not in one day. please.) Still getting the same response, but maybe he has to think longer? Tell him what you think of him. (I am assumeing you like him, or you would not have asked the question)

There isn't a thing wrong with the guy. he just has no idea what to do with himself.

My guess is that you're really turning him on, but he respects you, and some people think that the people you respect shouldn't turn you on. Foolishness, I know, but there you have it. Accept his nervousness, let him know you accept it, but let him  know that you want to give him a hug every once in a while.

I have a best guy friend as well and was in the same boat last year.  We've known each other since we were 15 and now we in our late 20's. Because we talked about it he told me that he didn't want to jeopardize our friendship and I agreed. Could you imagine if you did pursue it and you guys broke up. You probably wouldn't be the same. You'd be loosing a really good friend. I think you should ask him do you like me? If your willing to take a gamble then dive in.
